Why are you an Uber Driver? - Liam Lawson x Teammate! Reader
Plot: Liam Lawson finally gets a seat in F1 signing with Audi Formula Racing in 2026 along with you the fiery new rookie, when you get a sponsor with Uber and have to shoot promos what happens?
A/N: I have taken some of these moments from Darren Levy, some of them are just random crap i've thought off! This is supposed to be short and silly and feel like your almost watching the video or like watching a tiktok compellation!
Credit to umflowers for the GIF
In a YouTube Video:
"Hey guys so today Liam and I are here with Audi and we are happy to announce one of our new sponsors is Uber!" you say looking at the camera a massive smile on your face.
"Today we are partnered with Uber to get you guys to your destinations" Liam adds swinging an arm around your shoulder.
"We've kindly been gifted an Audi RS E-tron GT to use as our Uber car. Its one of the fastest models in Audi and all electric its a beauty" you explain as you walk over to the car with Liam following behind you.
"Black car" Liam says pointing to the car jokingly after your detailed explanation.
"Whose driving first! Me or you?" you ask turning to him.
"Mmmm definitely you" he says before running round to the passenger side of the car and hopping in.
"Okay, so Audi have been very kind an set up a profile for us called Li/N (Liam and your name mixed) and used this awesome picture of Y/N and I" he says showing off the Uber profile that was on the phone.
"Okay, lets pick up our first person" you smile working out how to accept a ride.
"Bobby Knight, we are coming from you!" Y/N giggles excitedly pulling out the large overhead carpark they were in. She had one hand on the wheel and one hand on the gear stick. She follows the directions and eventually pulls into a quiet side street.
"Hello, for Bobby?" the man asks getting into the car flinging his briefcase the the other seat of the car.
"Oh i thought the guy was the driver. I guess you do it together ... cute" he says briefly looking up from his work phone. You took it a little slower just testing the waters, making sure before you pulled out that you knew where the destination was.
"Look, I'm going to a business meeting. Can you just make this a quick job" he sighs looking over at you. Before he can blink, your driving the car how it was built for, obviously safely and within the speed limits but still driving quicker than most Uber's would.
"Jheezus, you can drive" he says laughing a little making a chuckle come from Liam beside you.
"I mean, its my career. You'd expect me to be" she says smugly knowing that if he wasn't a fan he wouldn't actually know what she was going on about.
"Here you go sir" you say pulling up outside the building you requested and he thanked you before hopping out quickly.
"Okay lets switch" you say before it cuts to you and Liam in the opposite places in the car.
"Okay next ride we are picking up Abbey" Liam says having accepted another ride. He quickly drives there while you mess about with the radio finally connecting your phone to the Car Play. Ladbroke Grove by AJ Tracey started playing and you and Liam both started rapping and you drove through the busy streets with the window rolled down.
"Hey babes, got some mates with me yeah? Going to the Xidao Bar?" she says as she comes up to the window the was rolled down. Her and the two mates clamber into the back all squishing in.
"I love you dress, looking like fire girl" you say swinging round looking over the brunette in the middle. She blushed lightly, thanking you before both her friends start to tease her in the back.
"So you girls got a good night ahead?" you ask looking at them in the rear view mirror.
"Yeah, going pub crawling!" the blonde exclaims before whipping out a mirror and lipstick.
"Oh my gosh" the brunette in the middle exclaims her head shooting up.
"You guys are F1 drivers right?" she says looking at the both of them.
"You drive for Audi"
"Yeah!" you laugh. She asks for a picture and you offer her one once you pull up to the club, she gives you a hug and leaves with her equally confused friends.
"Switch"
"Oh my lord and jheez is that two people shaking up in that car? In the middle of the day?" Liam exclaims looking out the drivers side window, past your concentrated head. You look onwards to see what he is exactly looking at.
"Holy shit my eyes!" you cry looking at the intrusion.
"Damn that wild, he is going at it" Liam observes making you slap your hand over his eyes.
"Don't look Liam!"
"It's the middle of the god damn day Y/N its hard to miss"
"No awareness of their surroundings at all" you complain laughing along with Liam.
You reverse out the space, putting your arm round the back of Liam's seat turning the steering wheel with one hand.
"Oh for fuck sake that's going to be in one of your edits, all over tik-tok" he laughs, looking at the position you were in currently driving.
"Okay we have another ride"
"Corey?"
"This is far too nice to be an Uber car" he says getting in the back carefully as you look at the destination which was a 12 minute ride away.
"Yeah, its a company car mate, wish she was mine" you offer, while keeping your eyes on the road.
"Y/N you don't need a company car you're rich, you have an R8 and a vintage Audi at home" Liam laughs before the guys gives you both a strange look.
"Oh my god, your both F1 drivers!" he exclaims.
"That we are sir" you beam looking in the rearview at him.
"Nice race in Spain by the way!" he smiles.
"Thanks! We are both very excited!" you exclaim happy that you were having a conversation with a fan.
"So why are you guys Uber driving?" he asks.
"Well, we have a sponsor with Uber and we thought this would be a funny promo video!"
"That's pretty cool, I'll actually be in Silverstone actually" he says showing Liam his tickets.
"Ohhh, well on behalf of Audi, ill get you a paddock pass for being a 5 star customer today!" you offer and he gasps in shock.
"Thank you so much!" he exclaims before you hand him contact details for where he can get his pass from on the day of the race.
"Your welcome have a nice day" he exclaims and before you know it you and Liam have switched again and he's back to driving.
"I'm getting kind of hungry, Maccas drive through on the company card?" Liam grins cheekily making you nod vigorously. You were starving having not eaten since the morning and it was now rounding late afternoon.
You pull up to the drive threw and the voice sounds out.
"Hello, what can i get for you today" the bored yet youthful voice says behind the order board.
"Hi so I'm going to get a Medium Bic Mac meal, with chips and ermmmm I'll get a coke" he advises before looking at you. You just shove your phone in his face, asking him to say it for you.
"Anything else?"
"Yeah, erm A Garlic Mayo Wrap meal with Carrot sticks? Carrot sticks really? Who the fuck goes to a McDonalds and gets Carrot Sticks, erm and an Oasis please" Liam finishes shaking his head at you in disagreement.
"Anything else"
"Yeah a medium chips and a nugget sharebox" he informs and you look at him in shock, he just shrugs his shoulder pulling forward to the next window.
"What I'm hungry, the nuggets are to share and the chips are for you" he smiles.
You both make a little tray in the middle of the car so you can eat without being messy.
"So, on a scale of one-ten how strict are you parents" you ask after biting into your wrap and chewing the contents.
"Hmmm, well my parents have always been pretty chill! They push me when it comes to racing but other than that they are supportive but in a good way" he smiles.
"So answer the question" you comment looking at him with an 'are you fr?' attitude.
"Oh so like a two, no really that strict at all"
"What's been the best meal of you life"
"This right here with you" he smiles genuinely and you cant be sure if the cameras pick up the light blush that is grazing across your cheeks.
"This crappy McDonalds, in an expensive Audi is your best meal?" you tease back, taking a sip of your drink.
"Mmmhhh" he mumbles smiling.
"Okay, what about your favorite place in the world?"
"See this one is hard, because I move around so much as a driver. You know for most of the year I'm going from country to country driving in one of the most competitive sports. New Zealand has a special place in my heart, but at the same time England has become extremely special to me" he smiles again.
You guys finish up the food, and you end on a group of fan boys who all asked to get pictures with the both of you and the car. Liam drove down the motorway and they were all squealing like little girls by the time you dropped them outside of Stamford Bridge Stadium.
"Enjoy the match boys" you shout.
"Have you ever been to a English Premier League game? We should go. I know Mason Mount, he could get us in" you wiggle your eyebrows.
And that's how you and Liam Lawson ending up watching a Chelsea FC match very very last minute.

PART TWO
“One! Two! Three!” Shouts the crowd. The bell would ring, signifying the end of the tag match. The Usos rolled out the ring quickly before an angry Street Profits could reach them. The tag match ended dirty. Montez’s shoulder was up, but the referee didn’t see it. Josh and Jon knew they got off without being caught and were celebrating on the ramp without care. They would eventually run to the back, vanishing behind the curtain.
Alina is informed to be at the gorilla for Josh and Jon for a backstage interview, and she can hear them as rowdy as ever, drawing near. They would pop out from the dark ramp, bouncing around with their championships in their hands. “Jimmy, Jey, can I get a word? What happened out there?” She says, catching their attention. Jon would drop his sweaty arm across her shoulders while Josh snatched the mic and her hand up.
“What happened out there? What happened out there, Uce, is that we won! Ain’t nothing else happened out there. The Street Profits thought they could hang with us, and what happened!”
“They got dropped!” Jon chimed in.
“They got dropped!” Josh repeats. “Ain’t no one taking these from us, Uce!”
“Yeet!”
“And if you think you got a chance,” Josh takes the mic out of Alina’s hands, blocking her from the camera. She took this as a chance to rid her hand of the sweat he left behind.
“Yeet!”
“You can get dropped too!”
“Yeet!”
“Cause at the end of the day, Uce, you the number twos, and we the ones!” Josh would end his promo with a raise of his pointer finger. His twin would follow suit before they both walked off towards the locker rooms. The cameraman would put his camera down, and the light on its head turned off.
“That was good.” Alex, the cameraman, would say, causing Alina to nod in agreement.
“Ay, Lina!” Josh shouts from across the large hall. “We going out tonight! Don’t make no plans!” Every time they successfully defended their championships, they wanted to go out. Though their night was ending, Alina had to stick around for the last two matches in case the company needed her for backstage interviews.
“Too late!” She teases.
“Cancel that shit, Uce!” Jon shouts, making Alina chuckle softly.
“Text me the details!” She shouts back.
———————————————————————————
Alina didn’t do much clubbing anymore. As she got older, she noticed the club crowd got younger. At thirty-two years old, she just didn’t see the hype anymore. That and it always took her days to recover. Getting her out of the house or a hotel room wasn’t an easy accomplishment, but somehow, Josh could do it every time. Maybe it was because he would harass her until she said yes; He always knew how to make her say yes.
She didn’t like that, but he loved it.
Here she was, standing in a nightclub surrounded by sloshed party-goers, and she had no idea where her group was. What she did know was that she needed a drink. If she was going to be able to tolerate being here, she needed to join the masses. She moved through the crowd, her eyes fixated on the glowing bar at the back of the large room. She hadn’t received any text messages from Josh in over forty-five minutes. All he had to say the last time they spoke was that he was here. When she gets to the bar, she squeezes between two people. They didn't pay her any mind, but the bartender saw her just as she got in.
“What can I get for you?” He asks.
“Vodka sprite, please!” She answered. The bartender quickly moved from her sight to prepare her drink for her. While Alina waited, she took her phone out of her pocket. The screen lit up, showing that she still had no new messages. Her thumb swipes up to unlock it, tapping the messages icon immediately after. Josh’s name was at the top of her inbox, her last message still there. She’d click on the message thread to type up a new message.
Alina: Hey, I’m here at the bar.
The screen would go dark after she sent the message, but she would keep the phone in her hand. The bartender would return with her drink, a smile on his face. “Thank you.” She says. She’d hand over her debit card, allowing him to swipe it. He asked her if she would want to start a tab, but she’d declined. She knew her drinks were on Josh once he found her. She glanced down at her phone; Still no new messages.
A hand would touch the small of her back, causing her to jump. Alina glanced over her left shoulder to find a man who wasn’t her best friend. This man towered over her. If she had to guess his height, she would say he was six foot five inches. He gives her a grin. “Hi,” He greets her.
“Hi.” She returns.
He leans down slightly; his mouth is in listening shot of her ear. “I’m Gavin, and you are?” He holds his hand out for her to shake.
“Alina.” She says, taking his hand. She shakes it gently before letting go of it. “Am I in your way? I can move.” She begins to make space for him. Gavin’s hand rests on her shoulder, stopping her from moving more.
“I came over here for you,” He starts. “I couldn’t walk away without telling you you're beautiful.” Heat began to rise in Alina’s face as her eyes shifted to the floor.
“Thank you.” She says, looking up at the guy again. Gavin wasn’t bad-looking. His black hair was shaggy on his head, his eyes a deep brown that looked almost black. His skin was pale, but his cheeks were faintly pink. He had a nostalgic feel to him overall.
“Are you here with anyone?” He asks.
“I…”
“Yeah, she’s with me, Uce.” A familiar voice chimes in. Josh eyes the man in front of him before holding out his hand. “You good, baby?” He asks, glancing at Alina. Took him long enough, she thought. She slips her hand into his warm one, instantly pulled to the Samoan. Once she was near him, he would slide his arm around her waist. Mentally, Alina took a deep breath to steady her now racing heart.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She says, leaning in to kiss his earlobe. Josh’s collected demeanor wouldn’t falter at the action, but boy, was he doing somersaults in his head. Gavin glances between the two before letting his brown eyes settle on Alina.
“Lucky man.” He says before turning to vanish back into the crowd.
Alina turns to look at Josh. “Damn, I thought you forgot how to use a phone.” She takes a step away from him.
“My bad, I didn’t know you texted me.” He says. Josh takes in Alina’s appearance. He couldn’t verbally tell her how good she looked, but he’s sure she knows. Of course, she knows how attractive she is. He was always having to fight off men on her behalf. Was he fighting off men for his sake or her own? Both? Both. He was selfish like that. Selfish, possessive—whatever you wanted to call it, he was that.
Alina noticed his staring. It wasn’t like he was trying to hide that he was doing it. He was blatant about things he did when it came to her. “Where is everyone?” She asks, snapping him out of his trance. He looks in two directions before allowing his eyes to settle on her.
“Oh, uh, we got a section. Come on.” Josh snatches up her hand again, pulling her through the crowd. They would zigzag through the dancefloor before making it to a set of stairs. A security guard stood there, blocking people who weren’t them from going up. He would step to the side to allow Josh and Alina to pass. They’d climb the stairs, finding themselves in an area lit up blue. In the corner was a bar that resembled the same as the bottom but smaller.
“Yay, he found her!” Gionna exclaims, jumping up from her seat on a white couch. With one hand, Alina hugs her friend. Josh stood to the side of them, watching the two women interact.
“You gonna let her go, Uce?” Jon shouts at him. The eldest twin always had time to tease Josh and Alina about their relationship. It wasn’t a friendship to him. He was beyond calling it that, as was everyone around them. The only two that were fighting for the title of friendship were the two people involved. Josh reluctantly lets go of her hand, and Alina notices instantly. Her eyes meet his back as he’s walking towards the couch.
“Have you gotten a drink yet?” Gionna asks.
It was then Alina realized she left her drink downstairs at the bar. She looks over the ledge, spotting the small cup sitting at the bar with no one around it. Well, she wasn’t going back for that. “No.” She answers, looking at the petite blonde in front of her. Gionna snatches up the same hand Josh previously held and pulls her over to the bar.
“Alina looks good,” Austin says, watching Alina and Gionna walk towards the bar. Josh and Jon look at each other before Josh looks off in the distance. He could feel his blood pressure rising by the second.
“Not too much on my sister-in-law, Uce,” Jon says. Trinity would slap Jon’s chest, making him bring his hand up to cover himself. Josh looks at his brother, pointing his finger at him.
“Quit playing with me, Jon! I done told you!” His brother would laugh, kicking his feet slightly at the reaction he’d gotten from his little brother.
“Oh, so she’s free game?” Austin asks, standing up.
“This ass whooping can be free game.” Josh snaps, rising with him. “Try it if you want to.” He warns. Austin lowered his eyes at Josh, a mischievous grin on his face. Slowly, he sits down. He wasn’t in the loop about what happens within The Usos friend group, but this little interaction told him everything he needed to know.
“So, like I said, not too much on my sister-in-law,” Jon repeats with a smile. “He don’t play about her.” Josh shoots a glare in his brother’s direction before sitting down.
Gionna ordered a tray of tequila shots at the bar for their group. She got twelve shots for six people. She was on an unspoken mission to loosen everyone up. Now that Lina was here, Gionna knew that the energy in their space would be different. Without fail, Josh and Alina always get weird around each other. “What’s new with you?” She would ask, making a quiet Alina speak up.
“Nothing,” She breathes. “I’m not complaining, though. After that last attempt, I decided to take a break from dating. It’s not worth it.”
“Why? Because of Josh?”
Alina was quiet for a moment. That was part of the reason, but not for what everyone’s thinking. She brings her index finger to her mouth, rubbing slightly at the bottom of her lower lip. It was something she often did when she was choosing her words. “I’m due for some much-needed reflection.” She settled, glancing at her friend. Gionna grinned, her lips twitching as she fought a laugh. “What?”
“Whatever the fuck that means.” She says, laughing at Alina. “I mean, I’m not one to judge…”
“You are right now!” Alina exclaims, causing Gionna to laugh more. The bartender places a tray of shots on the bar before them. Gionna grabs them, moving off her seat. Without another word, she turns to go back to their group. Alina follows behind her, quickly downing the Sex On The Beach cocktail she purchased. She’s going to need more by the end of the night.
“I come baring gifts!” Gionna shouts when they get back to their section. She places the shots on the table and drops down next to Austin, leaving a spot next to Josh open. She sits down, her body turned in towards everyone. Everyone reached for their two shots.
Josh sniffs his shots. “Girl, is this tequila?” He asks.
“Oh, hell nah, Gigi,” Jon says, shaking his head. “This ain’t gonna work for us.” The twins are both leaning to put their shots down.
“No balls.” She says. They pause, glancing up at her.
“Who!?” They shout in unison. They sit up again with their shots in their hands, ready to toss both back. Reverse psychology beats their asses without fail each time.
“Ooh, let’s toast, y’all!” Trin shouts, scooting to the edge of her seat. She holds a shot glass up. “Congrats to my honey and his brother for retaining their championships! Here’s to another successful defense and friendship!” She exclaims. Everyone cheered, leaning in to toast their glasses.
Josh turns to toast his shot glasses at Alina before they both toss them back. The alcohol warms their chests, but they both make a face of disgust before setting their glasses down. “You want another drink?” He asks, tapping her leg. “Vodka Sprite?” She nods. He stands to his feet, moving around her to the bar. Alina watches after him, a soft smile on her face.
“Alina,” Austin sings, sliding over to her. “How are you?” He asks.
“I’m good,” She answers. “You?”
“Oh, never better.” He replies. “Say, I have a question for you…” The pair wasn’t aware, but Jon and Trin were watching. The eldest twin had a grin on his face, not because Alina was talking to anyone, but because Josh was going to lose his fucking shit when he got back.

Fading Out?
Summary, Jack misses date night and the reader gets upset.
Jack 💘
“Babe what are you doing right now? If you aren’t doing anything make sure you get ready, I’m taking you out tonight.”
That was the last message you received from Jack before you started rushing around to get ready for your mysterious little date that he’d be taking you on.
The time was around three almost four in the afternoon, you knew Jack usually left the studio around five so you quickly jumped into the shower to freshen up.
“Why are you getting all dressed up?” Your friend Jessica’s voice came through the speaker of your phone.
“Jack is taking me out tonight I’m not really exactly sure where but all he said was for me to get ready.” You told her.
“Really?! That’s so sweet.” She gushed and you smiled.
“I know! I’m so excited, we haven’t been out together in a while he’s always so busy with work and his album, it feels good to actually spend some time together.” You confessed.
With Jack being gone all day with either finishing up his album, or doing promo shoots with New Balance or just photo shoots in general, there wasn’t enough time left to actually spend time together.
So when Jack texted you saying that he was taking you out you were beyond thrilled and over the moon with excitement.
Looking at the time you noticed it was about five minutes till five. “I’ll call you later Jessica I’m going to call Jack right now.” You told her. “Okay, have fun tonight.”
After the two of you hung up you went ahead and decided to call Jack to see where he was at. When he didn’t answer you looked down at your phone with a frown on your face.
“That’s weird.” You mumbled to yourself, usually whenever you’d call Jack he’d answer right away but you figured he was driving so you decided to text him.
Jack 💘
- I’m ready! Let me know when you’re outside!
You smiled and put your phone down and fixed your lipstick and looked yourself over one last time. It was now five thirty and still no sign of Jack.
Nemo’s house wasn’t far from Jack’s house it was about ten minutes down the street so you weren’t understanding why he still wasn’t home.
You decided to call Urban to see if he at least knew where Jack was. “Pick up.” You mumbled as you started to shake your leg, it was a habit you tended to do whenever you were nervous.
“Hello?” Urban’s voice came through the speaker. “Urban!” You yelled and he winched, not expecting for you to be yelling.
“Yes Y/N? Why are we yelling?” He laughed and took a step outside to hear you better. “Have you seen Jack? Or heard from him recently?” You asked Urban.
“Jack? Yeah he’s in the house with us.” Your eyebrows furrowed together. “Us? Who is us?” You asked him.
“Like Nemo, Ace, a few girls but don’t worry Jack isn’t cheating.” He laughed. “Oh okay well when you see him again can you let him know I said thanks for tonight.” You mumbled into the phone.
“Uh yeah sure I got you.” Urban asked he wasn’t quite sure why you wanted him to say that but he wasn’t about to question or get in the middle of anything.
You hung up the phone and went ahead and got unready. Deep down you had a feeling tonight wasn’t going to happen but you decided to be hopeful.
Just as you were about to turn off all of the lights downstairs and head upstairs to bed Jack came through the door with an apologetic look on his face.
“Baby, shit I’m so sorry I was about to leave Nemo’s house to come get you so we can go out but I got sidetracked by Ace and-.” He kept ranting and ranting and you were honestly sick and tired of hearing him.
“It’s okay.” You said with a tight lip smile. “Really it’s fine I should’ve known better than to give my hopes up, my fault.” You smiled at him and made your way upstairs.
“What?” Jack watched you as you walked passed him and upstairs to your shared room. He expected for you to yell at him or do something but you not doing anything made him even more worried.
“Babe? Are you good? Are we good?” He asked and watched how you laid yourself under the covers and sat up against the headboard.
“We’re perfect.” You sarcastically stated. “I feel like you’re lying.” He nervously laughed.
“Of course I’m lying Jack can’t you tell.” You spat and suddenly you were no longer leaning back you were now up and ready to discuss this.
“Okay so what’s wrong? Talk to me.” He said and sat next to you and went to grab your hands but you pulled your hands back.
“You should know that the problem is we haven’t spent anytime together !” You yelled your hands flying up in frustration.
“I thought you understood that I needed to get this album done? Once I finish the album then I’m all yours.” You scoffed.
“You don’t get it.” You chuckled dryly. “Why do I have to wait till your fucking album is finished to spend time with you!” You yelled.
You hated yelling it was one of your least favorite things to do but you wanted to get your point across to him.
“Are you being serious right now? You’re acting really selfish Y/N.” He spoke. “You know what if you don’t or can’t understand my lifestyle and understand that I won’t be available to run to your every beck and call.” He sighed heavily.
“Then maybe we shouldn’t be together Y/N.” He stated.
Your heart shattered at his words the last thing you wanted to do was to break up with Jack. “That’s how you feel?” You croaked out.
“Then fine we’re over.” Jack watched you with sadden eyes as you made your way out the room.
That night you slept alone in the spare bedroom you just needed time to think and time for yourself to try and see what you were going to do now.
Eventually you ended up falling asleep and waking up the following morning to spell of bacon, sausage and eggs being made downstairs.
You tied your robe against you and crossed your arms over your chest as your made your way into the kitchen. When you finally came into view you saw Jack sweating away at the stove.
“Good morning.” He smiled when he saw you and handed you a plate.
“Thank you.” You mumbled and sat at the table Jack frowned usually you’d be running into his arms or giving him a kiss.
The two of you sat and sat in silence you both tended to be a bit stubborn at times. Jack watched with sorrow filled eyes as you twirled around the eggs and nibbled on a piece of bacon.
“Y/N, baby I’m sorry I don’t want to break up with you.” He told you. “So why did you say that last night? All I want is to spend time with you but I didn’t realize I had to schedule an appointment.”
Jack chuckled. “You still got your humor.” You shot him a glare. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding but I am really sorry baby please will you forgive me?” He frowned.
“I’ll forgive you under one condition.” You smirked. “What is it?”
————————————————————————
“I really hate touching feet babe and you know this.” Jack groaned as he started to rub and massage your feet.
“So? What does that have to do with me you said that you’d give me a massage.” You stated and took a sip of your wine.
“I know, I know but still.” He grumbled. “But still nothing get to massaging because I’m getting a bit hungry.” You laughed as he groaned again but nonetheless he continued to rub your feet.
You leaned back into the couch and noticed Jack’s phone was ringing. “Druski is calling you want me to answer.”
“Yeah answer it.” He said. “Jack! Where you at man the game starts in a few minutes Urban and me just got here.”
Jack was meant to be going to a football game with Urban and Druski today but he was going to be busy making up for how he acted last night.
“Sorry Druski but he can’t come he’s a bit busy.” You flipped the camera and showed Jack who was sitting on the floor criss cross, applesauce style and painting your toes.
“Man.” Druski’s head went back in laughter. “You’re such a simp! I’ll catch you later.” Druski laughed one last night before hanging up.
“This is no fun.” Jack grumbled. “It’s fun for me and that’s all that matters and make sure my nail polish isn’t all crooked.” He smacked his teeth.
“Okay baby.” You smiled. “I love you though.” He smiled as well. “I love you too babe.”
(I tried writing this a few times but idk I still don’t like it but I hope you guys do 😭)

I’ll Miss You
What happens when Jacob has to go.
She’d gotten used to having him home.
When he’d finally wrapped up the movie Jacob was determined to spend every last moment with his wife. He did not waste a single second of the three month break before promo began for the film. They’d visited the new Japanese bakery down the street, hiked their favorite trail and the most important task; tried to make a baby.
2 1/2 years of marital bliss was more than enough for them, they wanted to be parents. Jacob wanted 7 girls and YN wanted nothing more than to give them to him. This lead to around the clock fucking, literally every single day. So when Jacob was packing his bags to start a two week promo tour for his film YN was already feeling withdrawals and he hadn’t even zipped up his suitcase.
YN had a tendency to become a bit standoffish whenever she was feeling frustrated, not wanting to bring anyone’s else’s mood down, so Jacob had to search for her that night. He finds her curled up on their loveseat reading, yet another, Danielle Steele romance.
“Hey Bug, what’re you doing down here. I need your help.” He says while climbing over her, hoping to squeeze in between her and the seat. But she moves just out of his reach, standing up and moving towards the stairs.
“Come on, I’ll help” she says walking away without looking back at him.
All Jacob could do was smile at his adorably grumpy wife because he knew exactly what was happening, YN couldn’t help how she felt so she did this every time he had to leave her behind.
He hears her stomping around before she appears walking out of the closet with several of his shirts in her hands and moving to lay them in his luggage on the bed. Jacob walks up behind her, pulling her into his hold. “J, I need to fold these shirts!” she complains half heartedly.
Wrapping his arms tighter around her, YN relaxes into his hold, letting Jacob rock them side to side.
“I’m gonna miss you so much baby, wish you could come with me.” Jacob whispers, sealing the statement with a kiss to the side of her neck.
YN’s eyes are closed, hoping to save this moment into her memory forever. She absolutely hates when he leaves, it feels like a part of her is lost. Jacob can feel it, feel her missing him even when she’s in his arms. So for a moment he keeps her in his arms, swaying, his lips pressed to her hair in an infinite kiss.
Pausing their rocking Jacob reaches around YN to pull his barely-packed suitcase onto the floor; clothes spilling to the floor.
“What on earth are you doing, we are still working on that?!” YN says in a panicky voice, slightly annoyed from being roused from their trance.
Turning her around Jacob walks her to the edge of the bed, letting the back of knees feel the soft sheets. “Need you to just lay with me for a second.” He says laying her down softly.
Hovering over her, their eyes dance across each other’s face, trying to memorize every last thing before it’s gone. But the second their eyes finally meet Jacob smashes his lips to YN’s, she opens her mouth hoping to give any piece of herself to him.
YN reaches up to hold the back of Jacob’s neck, pulling him in deeper. “Gonna miss you so much, fuck baby I’m gonna miss this,” she moans into his mouth.
“Yeah?” He says pulling away.
And when she can do nothing but stare at her beautiful husband doe-eyed and nodding, Jacob knows what he has to do next. So with a light smirk he looks down at his wife to say,
“Well I think we can at least fit in a couple more baby-making sessions before I leave.”

Hobie1610 pt. 3
part 3 has finally arrived!!! at a faster rate than part 2 but a bit of a wait nonetheless lol
not entirely sure how long this lil story will go on for but hope y'all are enjoying this ride regardless, whether it ends on the next part or in 3 more chapters ldfjkdhf
in this installment: thrilling action, a high stakes chase, and we get to learn more abt our beloved hobie jones! yippee!
>pt. 1 here<
>pt. 2 here<
♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧
By some miracle, Hobie did not mention the suit to Miles once they started texting semi-regularly.
Unfortunately, they also couldn't really make their lunch date (date? God, get it together, Morales. It is not a date…) as soon as Miles would have liked, due to a million different things getting in the way of them setting a solid day aside to chill together.
Just his luck, of course.
But in the hallways, Hobie actually deigned to give Miles a passing smile every now and then. They didn’t ever get to hang out like they did for those precious few moments on the first day of school, but Miles didn’t feel the crushing weight of guilt every time he saw Hobie in his same classroom anymore. What a relief!
So Miles was mostly okay with how things were going anyhow, even if the hangout ended up falling through and they both decided not to go in the end. He was able to patrol and do his homework in blissful peace for the first time in months.
… Kind of.
That look on Hobie’s handsome face as he looked down past Miles’ coat collar though…
That still ate away at an anxious part of Miles’ brain whenever he had the time to sit down and really let his worries manifest.
No time to think about that now, though. Miles was suited up again on a school night, hoping to get at least an hour’s worth of patrolling in before security at Visions noticed he was absent from his dorm room. He hoped Ganke would be able to cover for him like he always did.
It was yet another cold evening out in New York City, and Miles was steadily covering the edges of Brooklyn, heading towards Manhattan to do a quick sweep through Central Park like he did on occasion. There was always something going on in Manhattan, especially during the evening.
Miles decided it wouldn’t hurt to take a quick peek before calling it a night and heading back to Visions.
So away he went-- now fully in his Spiderman element-- vaulting and soaring over buildings, showing off every now and then by doing silly flips and tricks mid-air for the opportunistic New Yorkers looking to snap their Spiderman Sighting of the day. A little social media promo never hurt anyone, after all…
Spiderman finally swung down onto a tree branch on the western side of the park from a street lamp and was just about to lower himself down as inconspicuously as he could, before immediately feeling the tingling electricity of his Spider Senses race up and down his spine, giving him the usual headache along with it.
He crouched down quietly on a branch and watched as a familiar lanky figure streaked across the path underneath him onto the grass and beyond.
Whoever this runner was, he was fast. And hot on his trail was a gang of burly bumbling assholes cursing up a blue streak as they gave chase.
Spiderman’s eyes stayed glued to the fast runner like they were a lifeline. His senses honed in on the person and he erupted out of the leaves of the tree with one mighty leap, sailing through the air to shoot a web out and swing his way on over to the excitement.
Several joggers, people walking dogs after work, and mothers with baby carriages exclaimed and shouted as they were barreled into by the gang of men trying to keep up with their moving target. The runner didn’t seem to be giving up, though, as their long legs sent them flying over bushes and rocks and lounging people as gracefully as a ribbon in the air.
It was indeed getting dark soon again, but the darkness didn’t really affect Spiderman’s senses at all. His mask helped him fine-tune his powerful vision and anticipate the runner’s next moves.
It looked as though they were trying to make their way up towards the Great Lawn from Cedar Hill, but whether the person was planning to make a break for the now-empty Delacorte Theatre or the Metropolitan Museum Of Art… or beyond? That was the million dollar question.
Spiderman didn’t want to lose the person in case they happened to just be a petty thief, since that would be a quick and easy problem to fix. But as he silently chased down the runner alongside (and unbeknownst) to the gang, his suspicions gave way to some other... ideas.
Namely, that the runner seemed young, a bit too young for someone to be pissing off this many fully-grown gang members.
He pushed through his confusion and made a break for the theatre the second he guessed that the runner was pivoting in that direction.
The trees were getting thicker the closer they got to the Belvedere Castle and Spiderman eventually resorted himself to hoofing it, mindful of sticking to the shadows of the foliage that surrounded them on all sides.
He was super grateful now more than ever that his suit happened to be his signature sleek black and red, rather than the tacky and hyper-visible reds and blues of many of his Spider counterparts (sorry Peter!)
Once he confirmed that the suspicious target was indeed planning on hiding in the bleachers of the massive amphitheatre, he shot up a web to hoist himself into the infrastructure from the tall stadium lights. From there, he positioned himself a bit closer to the fray, hearing the loud and heavy boots of the gang following the runner, not far behind.
Then, he squinted into the dusk as he watched one of the entrances from his perch up high... and almost choked on his own saliva!
In comes none other than Hobie Motherfucking Jones, streaking down several steps like a shooting star, clutching onto… something tucked under one of his arms. He was breathless, panting loudly, and heading straight for the Belvedere Lake.
Upon hearing the heavy bootfalls get ever closer with every passing second, it seemed that Hobie got the idea to attempt a last-minute juke by throwing himself underneath the stairs that faced the lake, tucking himself as tightly as he could under the massive stage at the center.
Spiderman watched all of this happening with wide eyes, holding his own breath in. He prayed that the ugly thugs didn’t see Hobie’s sneaky last-second move, but climbed up high onto the stadium lights and prepared to swing down anyhow, just in case.
What was Hobie even doing here, out at this hour? And what the hell did he manage to steal that was so important to these men anyways? It was quite a chase they were caught up in, running nearly two entire miles all the way up to the amphitheatre just to catch him, and that was only from what he could see when he swung into action.
The group split up and pulled out flashlights, determinedly searching the bleachers and corners as best they could while the sky rapidly darkened above them.
From right below the webbed crime-fighter, Hobie poked his head out from the shadows and took a peek.
No, no, duck back down! Spiderman wanted to shout, but he couldn’t.
No one knew he had followed them and he was safe high above the action where he balanced himself on the metal bars that housed the bulbs. His muscles tensed as the bright beam of light from one guy’s flashlight swept a little too close to Hobie’s head. Damnit.
Spiderman couldn’t just sit there all day! He had a friend to save, stolen item be damned!
He rechecked his web shooters furtively and took aim.
He set his sights on another stadium light pole across from the stage, figuring that if he was quick and agile enough, he could time his swing well enough to scoop Hobie up from where he was hidden and avoid any detection. Hopefully.
Seemed like a solid enough plan though, until Hobie just. Shot out from his hiding place all of a sudden, the heels of his boots rapping loudly against the cement and echoing all around the stage as he made a beeline for the lakefront.
Shit!!!
Miles wanted to kill him. Those guys didn’t even suspect he was hiding where we was in the first place!
... Okay, plan B!
Spiderman’s brain whirred at breakneck speeds as he watched the thugs exclaim loudly and give chase yet again, this time much closer to Hobie than they ever were before.
Without thinking, he swung down from his perch and bowled over a couple of men in his haste to simply just… grab Hobie like a damsel in distress and fireman-carry him back around the gang to get a good line of web onto a nearby pole.
The men all cursed and shouted in surprise of course, flashlight beams waving around everywhere.
One of them even yelled, “what the hell was that?!” like a character in one of his dad’s favorite cheesy slasher movies.
Spiderman was too fast for them, a black blur simply whizzing by as he grabbed Hobie and hoisted the both of them up into the air with a mighty leap. Hobie yelped in surprise, grunting from the effort, and seemed to let whatever he stole slip out of his hands which then clattered loudly onto the ground below.
The thugs rejoiced then, shaking fists at Hobie and his rescuer as they flew up to the top of a tree and detached themselves so they could fall onto the stadium light opposite from Spiderman’s initial hiding spot.
Spiderman didn’t stop until he attached another web up to the lights and dangled there for a bit. Adrenaline still coursed through his veins as he shifted Hobie off of his shoulders and let him slide slowly onto his side, his friend’s wiry arms clutching him tightly.
They both watched with rapt attention at the goings-on several feet below them.
The thugs congregated around the fallen item, picking it up and turning it this way and that. It looked like a briefcase, though with the low lighting it really could’ve been anything. It was only when one of them-- the biggest and burliest of them all-- shouted out another colorful swear word that Hobie then seemed to come back to himself again.
He squeezed Spiderman’s shoulders with his arms and kicked at him. They swung a bit from the wiggling.
“Ouch!” Spiderman hissed, as quietly as he could. He was hoping the dark dusk would conceal their position now as long as they made No Noises, but even that wasn’t guaranteed.
“Go, go, go, go, man! Let’s get out of here!!” Hobie hissed right back into his ear, his face mere centimeters away from Spiderman’s mask.
Spiderman stubbornly ignored the heat radiating out from his face at that realization and jerked this way and that, looking for an easy escape from their conundrum.
Flashlight beams danced around the ground before finally swinging up to the trees and catching sight of a pair of shoes dangling in the sky.
The biggest and meanest one of the bunch pulled something out of his pocket and took aim.
Bullet! Spiderman’s senses screamed into his cerebellum.
“Goddamn,” he huffed ruefully as the shots rang out. Hobie panicked. “Bullets for us? That’s a little harsh, isn’t it?”
Hobie clung onto his hero for dear life. “Brother, if you do not get a move on from here, we are both gonna get turned into fish filets!” He shouted into Spiderman’s ear.
“Ow. Okay,” Spiderman grumbled, sticking himself to the side of the pole they dangled from and readjusting Hobie so that he clung onto his back instead.
He took a deep breath and narrowly dodged a bullet that whizzed unnervingly close to their heads. Hobie yelled again.
“Okay, okay, okay,” Spiderman began, speaking quickly. “Hold on, okay? Hold on tight. Just hold on and do not let me go for even a second!”
“On it!” Hobie shouted back, legs kicking a bit before wrapping themselves tightly around Spiderman’s torso.
They both took a breath and then Spiderman jumped, gaining some air before twin webs erupted from his web shooters-- aimed directly towards the seating area entrance.
Together, he and Hobie rocketed from their airborne position towards their escape route once the fluids connected to solid architecture. To his credit, Hobie only whimpered a little bit through the ride.
The thugs had no chance! They stumbled on tired, aching legs towards the very door the two teens had left out of, complaining and cursing some more as they searched through the steps and made their way out onto the theatre’s general admission and concessions area.
They searched and searched through the bushes and trees, going so far as to even check the sculptures near the structure.
After several tense moments of gruff shouting back-and-forth, the search eventually died down until only a couple of the men were left sweeping the area once more. The others had already given up their fruitless endeavor and called it a night.
“Fucking kids, man. What the hell,” Spiderman heard one of them grumble before kicking at the Romeo and Juliet statue angrily and following the rest of his cohorts down the path towards the Great Lawn again.
Hobie and Spiderman let out matching sighs of relief then, happy to have given the men the slip by managing to hide behind the giant 3D Delacorte Theatre sign right above the box offices. Lucky for them, most people don’t think to search behind lit-up signs, so they went completely undetected.
“… Wanna let me know what you were doing here this whole time? You could’ve gotten killed!” Spiderman breathed. He wanted his tone to be sharper, more authoritative… but he was just so glad to see his new friend still in one piece instead of riddled with more holes than a chunk of swiss cheese!
Hobie scoffed, tucking a loc behind his ear and sitting back. Thanks to the lighting of the sign and the other park lights in the area, Spiderman could see him digging around in his coat pocket and fishing out-- a USB drive?
Hobie held it up triumphantly, sleepy down-turned eyes glistening with pride.
“I got it! Suckers! Screw them by the way, I’m not the thief, if that’s what you’re wondering,”
Well. He was sneaky, alright. Spiderman had to hand that to him, at the very least.
He sat back on his heels as well and exhaled. “Fine. I believe you. What’s on that drive?”
Hobie squinted at him then, really giving him a good once-over now that the excitement had officially died down. “…Damn. You’re Spiderman,”
“Yeah, yeah. Hey, hi, nice to meet you, I’m your friendly neighborhood Sp-- ugh, seriously man, just tell me what all of that was back there or else I’m webbing you up and calling the cops.”
“Hey!” Hobie objected. “Like I said already, I’m the good guy here. I snagged this from those guys because I caught them snoopin’ around the museum over that way. I followed them and found out they were stealing this!”
Spiderman bobbed his head. “Okay? And what’s on it?”
Hobie turned the drive over a bit in his hands, admiring it. “Most likely? Security codes, schedules, maps. I’ve been uh… investigating those dudes for a while after watching them sniff around the museum for a few days now. It looks like they were just art thieves plannin' a heist, so I jumped on the opportunity to deliver justice myself.”
Hobie’s mischievous grin was met by Spiderman’s disapproving stare.
“And why didn’t you just call security and let them know? Like I said, super dangerous thing you did back there! If I wasn’t there to save you, you could’ve died, man.”
Hobie pocketed his USB drive again and rolled his eyes. “Y’know, for a vigilante hero with cool superpowers, you sure are a square.”
Spiderman sat up and placed a hand on his chest, feigning hurt. “Oof, ow. That’s mean,”
“Yeah, it is, but you know I’m right. If a kid like me walked up to some cops and tried to warn them of a possible art heist, you just know those pricks’ll laugh in my face and do literally nothing about it. I had to take matters into my own hands!” Hobie jutted his chin out defiantly.
Well. Couldn't really argue with that, especially considering PDNY’s less-than-stellar track record of taking preventative measures most times. All that they would most likely do is nod along to whatever Hobie was telling them and chuckle, shaking their heads as they walk away. Not their problem.
Spiderman rubbed his chin. “Point taken," he conceded. "So what’s your plan now?”
Hobie glanced around, as if he was checking for any eavesdroppers. “I’m gonna submit some photos to a journalist I met online before turning this in back to the museum. The journalist’ll help get those guys behind bars once a story's published and some actual adults talk to the cops. I am going to go collect my reward,”
Spiderman blinked. He had a bunch of questions swimming in his head, but the first question out of his mouth was, “what reward?”
“The reward for turning in precious security info, genius!” Hobie tapped at his forehead with a finger and grinned. “If I get to negotiate with them, I can get some money to save up and-- uh. Nevermind. Listen, are you gonna rat me out or not?”
Miles’ brow creased behind his mask. “… I don’t think I will. Sounds like you’re doing the right thing… mostly.”
Hobie cheered silently. “Yes! Okay, I take it back, Spidey. You are cool!”
Spiderman sighed. “But first, I need to know you’re gonna be safe. Like, actually, and that you’re not gonna get followed home.”
Hobie shrugged nonchalantly and pushed more locs out of his face again. “Yeah, you can walk me home if you want,”
“No, that’s not what I mean. I mean, that’s not the only thing I mean. I need you to promise me that you’re not gonna get into stupid stunts like this again. That was so dangerous and you really could’ve gotten hurt!”
Hobie exhaled as well. He stared intensely into the mask’s giant white lenses for a beat, making Spiderman shift uncomfortably.
Then, he held up his pinkie. “… Fine. I won’t do stupid shit like this again. I promise.”
Spiderman blinked a few more times and hooked his pinkie onto Hobie’s. “Uh. Okay, cool! Cool, that’s what I wanna hear, considering keeping New Yorkers safe is my job! I just wanna see you safe, that’s all. No more art heists, you gotta leave that to the professionals to handle,”
“What, professionals like you? You might’ve not even gotten to them in time before they snuck off with like millions of dollars worth of art, bro.”
“Anyone ever tell you you are just so mean? Dontcha have a little faith in me? The ‘vigilante hero with cool superpowers’?” Spiderman shot back.
They both laughed.
“Seriously, though. I do appreciate the fact that you saved my ass back there,” Hobie admitted, eyes cast downwards for a second. “I was actually gonna throw this thing into the lake and hope this drive got eaten by like… a fish or something.”
“And what about you?” Spiderman smiled despite himself.
“Well,” Hobie shrugged. “If I died, I died. I guess,”
It was Spiderman’s turn to scoff now. “You have a family, man. Don’t be ridiculous. You have friends and family that would miss you!”
Hobie’s expression turned dark, his entire face shadowing for a second before being replaced by cool detached nonchalance. A slight hint of annoyance stayed put underneath.
“… My family’s barely my family. I don’t have any friends, either. Don't worry about me.” Hobie admitted in a clipped tone. He stood up abruptly and started doing some casual stretches.
Spiderman stood up as well, knowing fully well how this song and dance was going to go.
He would never admit it out loud, but he’d seen his fair share of self-destructive citizens throwing themselves into the middle of danger in the short time he’d been doing this whole vigilante thing. He had talked many a melancholy or manic person from tossing themselves off of multiple different buildings, different bridges, stopped them from “falling” onto train tracks.
And as loath as he is to admit it, this Hobie’s particular brand of cool detachment was entirely too familiar to him as well.
A flash of his uncle Aaron’s face lit up a part of his brain that he hadn’t really allowed himself to acknowledge since that fateful day. He quickly stamped that out.
He cleared his throat and rubbed at his neck. “… Well. That sounds pretty depressing, man.”
He didn’t notice Hobie’s shoulders hitch at that phrase.
“But,” Spiderman continued, “You got people out here who care about you, even if you don’t know it. You’re still so young, you could be ending your life before you even meet, like, your favoritest person in the whole world, right? So just do me a quick favor, take care of yourself. For me. Live long enough to meet your favorite person, alright?”
Spiderman put on his best comforting expression that he could despite the mask most likely getting in the way of Hobie fully seeing it. He hoped his words were enough to convince him not to dive off the deep end, at least not anytime soon.
It seemed to work at least a little bit, because Hobie looked back at him with a much warmer-- albeit hesitant-- expression.
“Can I ask you something?” Hobie finally said after a few moments of silence.
“Uh, sure.” Spiderman replied.
“Do you know about a kid named Miles Morales at all?”
The air was sucked out of Spiderman’s lungs right then as he floundered like a fish for a minute, brain working into overdrive to make his answer sound both intelligent and convincing.
“U-uh, maaaybeee? I dunno, I meet a lot of New Yorkers everyday and I don’t get many names, yanno? S-sounds familiar, but sorr--”
“I knew it,” Hobie exhaled a laugh and surged forward to embrace Spiderman with both arms.
Spiderman stood frozen in his place, arms held in mid-air as he worked to process this.
“Uh. What--”
Spiderman felt Hobie’s chin dig into the side of his cheek a little as he turned his lips to his ear. “Your secret’s safe with me, by the way. I’m not telling anyone,”
Miles felt his whole world turn on its axis before shattering completely.
Oh no, no, no, no, no! Goddamnit!
Miles pushed Hobie off and stepped back, holding his hands up. “Oh hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. I dunno what you’re thinking or who you think I am, but--!”
Hobie sighed loudly. “Miles, I saw your suit.”
The world screeched to a halt.
Hobie picked his gaze back up off of his feet and even seemed apologetic, almost. “I, uhm. Like, back on the roof. At Visions. I wasn’t… a hundred percent sure I saw it, since it could’ve been any logo at all, but. Well, you’re a pretty bad liar too, y’know that, right?”
Miles sucked in a slightly shaky breath, gulping loudly. “Uh. W-well,”
Hobie smiled shyly. “You, uh… you’re like around the same height as Miles Morales, anyways. And you sure sound a lot like him, too.”
Damn. Damn it all.
Miles spun this way and that, placing his hands atop his head as he panicked slightly. “H-Hobie, you cannot tell anyone else about this, whatsoever. Do you understand? No one. At all. Or we’re both dead!”
Hobie held his hands up, lines creasing in his face. “Look bro, you’ve got secrets of mine too. We pinkie promised, remember? I don’t break promises.”
Miles didn’t point out that the promise was so that Hobie would stop getting himself into stupidly dangerous situations, but he accepted it anyways, albeit reluctantly.
“D-do… do you actually, like actually promise me you’ll never breathe a word about this to anyone? Ever? At all?”
Hobie held up his right hand into the air, as if taking an oath. “I, MJ, solemnly swear to never breathe a single word to anyone about your super secret identity, so help me god.”
Miles planted his fists on his hip and shook his head. “Oh my god,” he exhales on a shaky laugh.
“Don’t you believe me? What would I have to gain by selling you out? Oh,” Hobie stops suddenly, perking up. “We could even work together! I got me my sweet camera and my extensive connects, man. Think about it!”
“No, no. Hobie. Stop that, man. I’m not putting you into any danger after I just saved your skinny butt. Spiderman doesn’t do sidekicks anyways,”
Hobie looked a bit put out, but shrugged anyways. “Well, I mean… think about it sometime. We could seriously take down criminal activity around here, if you’re down! And, uh. You do have my number,”
Miles looked up and took a deep breath. “Mmnyes, I do. I do have your number. That’s… I mean you’re not wrong about that. Listen, I think it’s getting pretty late and we should both be heading back home now, though.”
The corners of Hobie’s mouth curled up mischievously. “True, true. It is a school night, after all.”
Miles couldn’t stop grinning despite the heavy anvil that threatened to burst out of his chest. “Yep, yes it is! Okay, time to get you home now. C’mon, let’s go.”
Miles moved to step into Hobie’s space and carry him on his back again so he could lower the both of them down from the lip of the theatre roof.
But before that happened, he felt Hobie place a cold but strong hand on his shoulder, stopping him.
Miles looked up inquisitively and felt his breath catch in his throat as he felt those same hands slowly slide up the smooth spandex of his suit, up his shoulders, and then they stopped at his neck, at the seam of where his suit and mask met.
The entire thing probably only took a few seconds to do, but to Miles it felt like eons passed as he felt every single muscle twitch and the pulse beating underneath Hobie’s skin while he ran those fingers up his arms.
He was standing so close to him! Oh god!
The entire ordeal was unbearably intimate, and Miles could barely stop the shudder that wracked his body suddenly.
Hobie’s soft lips were slightly parted, the lighting of the sign next to them caught in the dark brown portals that were his eyes.
“U-uhm. Sorry, this is weird...” he mumbled quietly. But his hands didn't move.
All around them, crickets started their soothing chorus.
Here they were, right behind the giant lettering of the Delacorte Theatre, intertwined in each other’s arms on a cold night-- and Miles’ core body temperature has never felt hotter before. He felt like he could melt steel, the way this night was going. He didn’t know when his hands raised to grasp onto Hobie’s arms, but they must’ve done it of their own accord because Miles then felt himself squeezing softly onto Hobie’s biceps.
Slowly, painstakingly, and carefully… Hobie made his move.
Every centimeter of the mask being pushed up was accompanied by a soft look that asked-- no, it begged-- for permission to continue. His hands seemed to move on their own eventually, as he slid the mask up over the back of Miles' head and then eased it up off of his nose.
Hobie wore a soft look of determination then, that fully came into view again once Miles felt his mask slide right up off of his eyes. Hobie’s soft hands eventually fell away, mask in one hand, no sounds in the air except for the wildlife of the park starting to wake now that the night has officially fallen.
Miles wasn’t sure why he did, but he held his breath.
After a few seconds of appraising gazes from each other, pupils meeting pupils, exchanging a million words a second with just a few looks… Hobie grinned beautifully.
“Damn. There you are,”
Miles felt a plume of heat erupt from his gut and rush up to his face. “Uh. Hm, y-yep. Here I am,” he blinked back at Hobie with his big brown eyes.
Hobie had a look of pure joy on his face before it started to melt away suddenly. “You know… I should backstab you for abandoning me out of nowhere that one time, though… I really should...”
The moment collapsed like an undone web, a delicate thing now completely destroyed as Miles leaped up in indignation.
“Hobie!”
Hobie stepped back and laughed loudly. “Re-lax! I’m not gonna actually do it. But. Y’know.”
“And if you do, I’ll leave you webbed up to that billboard near Visions,” Miles threatened, mostly light-heartedly.
“Psshh, and then get my mom’s two million lawyers on your ass? Good luck,”
“As if they could ever catch me! I’m Spiderman!”
Just as easily as they had stepped out of being just kids for a moment, they stepped right back into it, bickering like they'd been friends since forever.
Miles lowered the both of them from the sign and they headed towards the eastern side of the park, making their way over to Hunter’s Gate. They bickered and bantered back and forth the entire way there, and it was only once they made it to the outer gates of the park that Miles stopped them both.
With his mask back on and other New Yorkers now milling nearby, Miles made it a point to lower his voice as he turned to Hobie and puffed his chest out heroically.
“So, random citizen. Where are we off to today? I told you I’d take you back home safely, and that’s what I’m gonna do.”
“’Cause you promised, right?” Hobie smirked, tucking his hands into his coat pockets.
“Uhm. Yeah, yeah. I did. So, lead the way!” Spiderman made a grand ushering gesture, and Hobie chuckled good-naturedly as he stepped aside and exited Central Park.
“You gonna walk me home, Spiderman?” Hobie threw him a side-long glance.
“Yyyeah…? Why? You’d rather swing home?”
“I liked swinging, actually. Yeah,” Hobie stopped where he was on the sidewalk and nodded with an air of finality. “Yeah… let’s swing!”
Spiderman felt his heart do a few somersaults in his chest before he gestured towards his shoulders. Hobie quickly assumed the position, long lanky arms wrapping around him and leaning his body weight against Spiderman’s side.
Spiderman shot up a web to a nearby street lamp and gave his friend one more glance.
“You sure?” He asked again, really making sure that Hobie was okay with this. Not many people really liked swinging, which was understandable. Even Miles wasn't the biggest fan of it at times.
Hobie chuckled and ignored the onlookers as they slowly ambled past the two, throwing the teens questioning glances as they made their way past them.
“Yeah, I am! Let’s go,”

Miles: Do you actually actually really like on your LIFE promise that you’re not ginna tell a soul about… well…
Miles: gonna*
MJ: Yes, Miles. I PROMISE [eyeroll emoji]
Miles: I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE
MJ: Do you actually, though? ;)
Miles: No. But I can find out… I got connects
MJ: Uh huh. I’ll tell your “connects” that if you don’t take me out on that promised lunch date, our friendly neighborhood Spiderman just might be the next trending topic on ALL social media apps again very soon……..
Miles: Oh my god. You are Evil. I can’t believe this. My next arch nemesis… damn
Miles: What a killer plot twist. The greatest foe I have yet to face happens to be none other than one of my very own classmates
Miles: It be ya own people
From his family’s Lower Manhattan penthouse, Hobie laughs out loud as he reads the text messages, ignoring all of the curious glances thrown his way by various members of his team.
From Miles’ own humble dorm room at Visions, he laughs aloud as well.

Cunning Hares Headcanons
First of many posts sharing my personal interpretations on ZZZ characters and their dynamics!
Nicole Demara - 27-28, Mexican/Indian, trans woman, sapphic
Anby Demara - 19, Filipino, demigirl (enby Anby rights), aroace spectrum, definitely has autism.
Billy Kid - 27-28 (at least with physical/mental age… there’s a very reasonable chance he’s been active for a long or short period of time), Argentenian (idc if he’s a robot, he’s latino in my heart), bisexual, inherently got some genderqueerness by being a robot but primarily male/masc, and sentience gave him adhd /hj
Nekomata (Nekomiya Mana) - 15, Black/Japanese, sapphic, potentially has adhd and/or autism (she hasn’t really looked into it much)
Billy doesn’t like rock music (that much anymore) because it was all the Sons of Calydon played on the road. All the time. So he (understandably) needs a break from it.
While we’re on the subject, I’m so curious about classical music putting him to sleep. Does he mean standard “lullaby songs” like Clair de Lune or Sugarplum Fairy? Or would this guy conk out to a Dies Irae? Classical/orchestral music has. A very very wide range.
This is technically more related to Sons of Calydon, and we can’t really say who he does/doesn’t know in the gang yet (Caeser for sure, most likely Piper— Burnice and Lighter are kinda up in the air, but they probably know our silly android man too… and I’m betting Lucy is the newest member? There’s a chance they could know each other— like she joined and he left a little after). But!!! He was often sent out to get booze for the gang because everyone mistakes Piper for a high schooler. Even with a proper ID.
So far the only instance of Billy’s guns “talking” a la Liz and Patty Thompson is from his combat promo video and that’s it… I really really hope we get more elaboration on that at some point. But for now! He totally named them: Annie (the more demure personality) and Jane (the less enthused one)
Unless canon reveals something that makes this completely go out the window… Nicole used to be a defense attorney. Because a briefcase as a weapon is a very lawyer coded trait, you need to have a pretty solid understanding of laws to run a business— especially more legally ambiguous ones like an odd job agency, and y’know. Law school debt.
It’s a big part of why she involves herself in representing Canvas Street against Vision as well!! Though she’s not an attorney again by a long shot— for one, she’s on the prosecuting side against Vision, and she lost her attorney license years before starting Gentle House. But the point still stands that Elle Woods, Mia Fey, and Phoenix Wright walked so Nicole Demara could run
Most humanoid/half(?) thirens are born with animal ears and tails— but there are several genetic exceptions to this standard. Nekomata, for example, has cat ears… and cat feet. Without her special boots and mechanical tails to keep her balanced, it’s incredibly difficult for her to even stand up. In other words, she’s a disabled icon.
Understandably, it takes her a long time to feel comfortable/safe enough in places to keep bare feet. Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you’re an embarrassed little teenage thiren), all of the Cunning Hares can pick up Nekomata and carry her around no problem! They’re more than happy to do this (and/or just get stuff for her) if she doesn’t have her boots on at home.
Nekomata gets very snuggly and affectionate when she’s asleep. She likes to lay with all her teammates at different times, but the most frequent victim is Billy. I mean c’mon, he’s a walking heater.
Billy: We had a bonding moment! I cradled you in my arms!
Nekomata: Nope!!! Don’t remember!!! Didn’t happen!!
Anby occasionally gets ptsd nightmares from her days in the defense force. It used to be a lot more severe when she just joined Nicole… and by force of habit, Anby sneaks into her room the most. Billy and Nekomata catch her drinking tea in the middle of the night sometimes though, and promptly set up a pillow fort on the couch for everyone to hang out in so Anby doesn’t feel so alone.
Nicole: What are you guys doing making so much noise????
Billy: Shut your mouth and get in the pillow fort, Boss.
Nekomata has a collection of fidget items. It’s got every thing from puzzle cubes to random pieces of string. Honestly I could see her picking up crochet, kumihimo (cord weaving), and/or other textile hobbies to keep her hands busy.
The other three have all tried the flashlight thing™️ with her. It works a little too well (Like “Duke do you want the ball?” too well— she just flies across the room).
Anby, much like her interest in movies, has a very wide range of music she likes. It’s anybody’s guess as to what she’s listening to at a given time.
Nicole: Wow, Anby’s really focused right now… I wonder what she’s listening to?
Anby’s headphones: 🎶 Life is like a hurricaaaane here in! Duckberg! 🎶
Nicole has so much rabbit themed stuff. Plushies, little figures, definitely some scarves and hats, etc. Most of them are gifts from people she’s known in the past, along with the other CH of course.
Nicole and Nekomata would play Animal Crossing together, Billy would freaking love the Kirby series, and I think Anby would really enjoy Miitopia/Tomodachi Life
Billy’s definitely the most proficient gamer of the team. Fighting games, racing games, what have you… he’s won most matches, sometimes without even meaning to. Nicole and Nekomata argue he’s “cheating” because he’s literally got a computer for a brain… and if Billy responds with something akin to “git gud,” his ass is getting tackled.
We know from when Billy appears at the arcade after you played a little, he supposedly has moments where he’s “cursed” and doesn’t play as well with the CH— I don’t know if performance anxiety has anything to do with it (he’s really not the type)— but given Nicole’s association with divination, Nekomata’s inherent connection to yokai and Japanese supernatural, and the CH’s luck motif in general… it’s very funny to think that they “manifest” periods where they can beat him at games. I think if Billy found out, he’d be a little miffed they were trying to nerf him but… honestly it’s really funny and he’s a good sport. They’ll probably stop once he actually knows, though. Anby has literally no part in this, she just finds it entertaining /hj
Anby has to try a burger from literally every restaurant she goes to if it serves them. Practically a connoisseur at this point, though it’s rare for her to find a burger she doesn’t like (unless it’s like. Raw meat or something).
Forgive me for the Soul Eater coming out again, but I’m so fascinated by Nekomata’s socks saying tsubaki on them. And the flower buttons and stuff in her design in general. The flower in general representing devotion. Red camellias (tsubaki in Japanese) represent being in love, or perishing with grace. Yellow represent longing. White represent waiting. “A flower without fragrance. When the petals fall, it is silent and tragic.” There’s so much we can unpack about all of this with our catgirl.
Anby and Billy do it the most, but they all have silly quips of quoting different movie/tv show/internet media lines. They all kinda learn about different stuff through this osmosis.
Nekomata was the most hesitant to warm up to Billy because he reminds her a lot of Miguel Silver. I know we don’t have much about Silver in canon, but… Very competent and can be genuinely threatening, but also a lot more emotional and sentimental than most people would probably expect. I was surprised and kinda endeared when Silver was introduced sobbing and all dramatic as he spoke lmao.
I don’t think she fears a fallout like RFG happening again (at least, it’s not a major anxiety). The fact the CH committed to helping Canvas Street without a second thought is enough proof to her that they’re really not the types to be morally corrupted and all that. But… running into someone who reminds you of a past relationship— but who’s like. Better morals or more well-adjusted or whatever. That feels. So weird. It makes Nekomata think about what could’ve been. Why did her adoptive father become such a hypocrite— how is a robot more sincere about values than he was?
She definitely warms up to Billy a lot more by Ch 3/Ballet Twins stuff. I think it’d be sweet if she talked about her grief with him— Nicole and Anby too, tbh. Even if she separated herself once things weren’t sitting right with her (which takes so much internal strength), Silver was still her dad. She probably found out about his fate in the news broadcast at the very beginning of the game…
Yeah that's definitely also another reason why she clings to Billy the most in her sleep too. She misses her papa,,, and you tend to go towards the familiar and all that.
Anby keeps a small journal of letters to Soldier 11 (or Eleven, as I like to call her). Movie reviews/analysis, reports on commissions, snippets of her domestic life with the others… it acts more like a diary than actual letters she’ll send out. But Anby truly wishes she can share all of the joy and freedom she’s found with Eleven someday. Both in all the stories and helping her experience it too,
I’m a firm believer Anby and Eleven are twins— Burnice definitely has a connection to them too given her own little pack thing… but she also has more blondish hair and looks/acts a little older than them??? So probably not exact triplets or maybe not even biological sisters. But some sort of Huey, Dewey, and Louie grouping would be hilarious
I feel like Nicole is. Very into astrology, horoscopes, tarot cards... online quizzes. We know from one of Anton's trust events that she dabbles in fortune telling for quick cash, but honestly I feel like the others gotta hold her back from doing that more often because it drives them nuts. She's tried to get them in on it but... they're not very good at it. Anby's descriptions are just movie tropes, Nekomata gets distracted by the cards and other trinkets used, and Billy can't keep all the symbolism straight for the life of him.
Nekomata clearly has some education, likely from the RFG/potentially her orphanage... but given she's a street kid, even now (more lowkey) with the CH, it might be a minute until she gets into high school. I don't know if she'd even be that interested in school... probably curious to try it but she'd get so bored so fast lmao. Regardless, Nicole and the others would probably want to help her enroll.
Nekomata when socializing and learning stuff in class: Ok yeah! I can get used to this! Nekomata when she has to do homework: WTF THIS SUCKS
But she more or less gets straight As like the smart lil kitty she is. She asks the others for help/overview fairly often, though.
“Billyyyyyy”
“I’m not an generative AI, I can’t do your homework for you. Besides that’ll get you into loads of trouble for. Several reasons.”
“I’m not asking that!! You know more about Outer Ring than I do— can you check if my research for this project is accurate so far?”
“… Oh yeah, sure!”
Anby is usually the first person to be ready to leave, while Nicole is… the last. You can tell these two are sisters because they always bicker about it /lhj. (Note to myself to make an animatic of these two to this very fun song)
While the CH all share a tv and gotta chart out times for it, they also have group movie nights! Usually they’ll watch really bad movies they can all laugh at and make fun of together. This is where a good chunk of their inside jokes come from.
Nicole loves to give Anby and Nekomata manicures! She would give them to Billy too, but whatever polish she tries will come off immediately. Anby and Nekomata tend to have theirs chip off fairly quickly too rip
Nekomata moved into Anby’s room when she joined the CH— they’re the youngest and Anby had the most space. While the two had a lot of tension in Ch 1, and some of that can still carry over sometimes, they’re actually pretty good roommates!
Her whole scene with Billy in the prologue was her attempt at humor to cope with stress (plus finding Billy probably relieved her a lot)… but she struggles with knowing appropriate times. Given Anby has also joked about becoming a monster and tried to nom Billy’s hand (“Rawwwwr”), I don’t think this is too out there lol.
#zenless zone zero#zzzero#zzz headcanons#zenless zone zero headcanons#cunning hares#gentle house#nicole demara#anby demara#billy kid#nekomiya (nekomata) mana#nekomata#nekomiya mana#Bet you can’t guess who my favorites are /lhj#I’ll definitely add more as we learn more about these goobers!! I plan to do this with other factions and stuff too uwu

Now and then when I see her face She takes me away to that special place And if I stare too long, I'd probably break down and cry
- Guns N’ Roses, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” (1987)
Tucson || July 1988
It didn’t matter what Colum or the label or anyone else said – all recording studios looked the same on the inside.
Sure, there were always small differences. The really comfortable couches at Sound City in Los Angeles. Electric Lady in Manhattan still had the really cool paint scheme that Jimi Hendrix himself had designed. Muscle Shoals in Alabama oozed coolness.
But this studio, whose name he couldn’t and didn’t care to remember, nestled down a back street in Tuscon was…tired.
Almost as tired as Jamie.
The “quick three week tour” had stretched to eight weeks, with no end in sight. Theater shows had been upgraded to arenas. Playing to thousands and thousands of ecstatic fans. Pouring their hearts out night after night after night, and squeezing in radio promos and sound checks and business meetings during the day.
Fucking exhilarating.
Everybody wanted a piece of Print – their music, their story. Jamie still hadn’t granted too many interviews this tour, but the press ate up every word he said about sobriety and music and forgiveness. Insatiable for details about the woman he had met in rehab, and written all the new songs about, and refused to name publicly.
Print was making more money than they knew what to do with. The label had sprung for a private plane, and nobody in the band missed the rickety and smelly tour bus (except Claire, because it was still all so new to her, which Jamie added to the list of thousands of reasons why he loved her). Their hotel rooms were bigger. Catering in the dressing rooms was much nicer.
Fucking exhausting.
So many people wanted a piece of Jamie every day. Ian and Angus, to run through the new material that just kept pouring out of them. Colum, to talk ticket sales and adding second and third nights in each city. The suits from the label, who kept finding them in Dallas and Kansas City and Detroit, slapping Jamie’s back and pushing terrible ideas for duets with pop stars or contributing to a movie soundtrack or pleading to do the acoustic set in a special for MTV.
And on top of that, some dirtbag reporter from the National Enquirer had figured out who Claire was, somehow got a hold of her personnel file from the hospital, and tracked down her shitty ex-husband for an exclusive interview. Splashed her life all over the tabloids, complete with very grainy photographs of the she and Jamie together, holding hands, on a rare day off in Nashville when he took her to a few honky-tonks. The one saving grace was that thankfully, nobody at The Ridge had said a word about anything about her time there, or the time they shared together.
Claire took it all in stride. She always understood. Holding him in the bathtub of their suite in Denver as he shook from another panic attack. Smiling over a three AM hamburger at a diner in Topeka. Whimpering as he came off stage in Atlanta, sweaty and keyed up from singing about her, hoisting her in his arms for a long kiss against the lighting equipment at side stage, heart stuttering to see his eye makeup smudged against her cheeks.
The man he was on the last tour – unhappy, unfulfilled, so deep in an addition he didn’t care to acknowledge – would not recognize the man he’d become on this tour.
“In ’86, we played seventy eight dates. We had a number one record. I bought my house, and my motorcycle, and my car.” Quietly he sipped coffee in their suite in Seattle, watching the city wake up, running his thumb over Claire’s shoulder as she settled against him in front of the window.
“You had everything you had always dreamed of.”
He snorted. “I was a mess. All I could think about during every show was how to find a girl or a bottle or a baggie as quickly as possible. And the crew would always do that for me.”
The crew respected his – and Claire’s – request for no drugs or alcohol backstage this tour. What the techs and roadies and production crew did on their own time, in their own hotel rooms, with whoever they wanted to – Jamie didn’t care. But for everyone to help with, to respect, his sobriety was a gift. And he never stopped saying thank you.
“If only those reporters could see you now – Jamie Fraser swaggering off stage for an Evian.”
He smiled. “And to kiss this beautiful doctor who for some reason keeps following him around. Because he loves her, more than any man has ever loved any woman.”
He wanted to provide for her. To shelter and protect her. To never leave her side ever again.
She didn’t need him to do any of that, of course. They’d talked about it many times. But she wanted him to do that. And the fact that she chose him, kept choosing him…that was why they kept going. Kept each other sober. Kept holding each other up.
They’d agreed that this time on tour was for her to understand this part of him – and to help both of them decide how and where they would live once the tour was done.
Which is why the radio silence from Boston, four weeks after mailing the letter from Philadelphia asking, politely, just what the hell was going on…was so fucking crushing.
The stress of that – and the grind of touring – did make it just a bit more difficult every day.
Thankfully Colum had scheduled a week-long break at the end of the month. Angus was already planning a trip to Aruba with the two groupies, who truth be told had grown on the rest of the band. Ian was planning to spend the week with his wife, Jamie’s sister Jenny, and their kids.
And Jamie and Claire – well, they’d be getting married.
Only a few people knew, with good reason. Ian and Jenny, of course. Alec and Faith, in New York. Colum. Dougal MacKenzie and his wife Gillian, who had helped both Jamie and Claire so much at The Ridge. Uncle Lamb, who would officiate. And Claire’s friends Joe and Gail Abernathy, who had quite literally saved her life by getting her to The Ridge in the first place.
The service would be simple. Exactly what they wanted – what they needed.
And after that…well. They would truly be husband and wife.
But there was a lot to do – a lot to take care of – between now and then. Not the least of which was, wrapping up this recording session.
The time laying down acoustic tracks in Philadelphia last month was very well spent. They weren't so rusty. But the guys were eager to hear the songs in electric form. And since they were in Tucson, and Colum knew Bobby Higgins – who not only owned this studio, but who had also produced that really killer Ratt album in ’84…
“OK, Jamie.”
Jamie took a deep breath, and looked up through the glass at Bobby, hunched over the console in the control room.
“Ready for take two?”
Jamie looked left, to Angus – and right, to Ian.
“Yup.”
“OK – this is In My Veins, take two.”
Jamie grit his teeth.
Caught Claire’s eye in the control room.
She smiled.
He relaxed.
Angus counted in on his drumsticks, and then started the heavy beat like they’d discussed.
Four bars – and Jamie’s guitar and Ian’s bass joined in.
--
“That was really, really great, Jamie.”
Claire handed him a new bottle of water, cap already twisted off. He drank it in four deep gulps.
“I know you’re not shitting me. So thank you.”
Quickly she looked over her shoulder – Angus’ cheeks were being loudly kissed by the groupies, and Ian played around with his bass, and Colum and Bobby were deep in conversation in the control room.
“Where are you?”
She had pulled him away before, when the panic attacks were coming, and he knew she’d do it again right now if needed.
He wiped his mouth with the back of a sweaty hand. “About an eight out of ten.”
“Do you need a break?”
He met her eyes. “I need a meeting. Been thinking about my old friend Jack Daniels all day.”
“Did you see something?”
He sighed. “I’ve only played electric a handful of times since I got back from The Ridge.” He looked down at the gorgeous Stratocaster strapped across his chest, fist flexing. “I got this guitar because the black tone and white trim matched the label on the bottle. Stupid, I know. But it’s all I could think about today.”
“Not stupid. We’ll deal with it. You should call Alec. And I can find you a meeting.”
He leaned in, and kissed her forehead. “I love you. I’ll call him. And I need to sell this guitar.”
She nodded. “We’ll find a charity.”
He kissed her again. “I love you.”
She kissed him quickly, and returned to the control room.
Grateful that Jamie had turned away to talk to the guys, when Colum tapped her on the shoulder, and slid over an envelope postmarked Boston.
“Mail call. Do I want to know?”
She shook her head, folded the letter, and slid it into the back pocket of her jeans. “Is there a Yellow Pages I can borrow?”

i really would like to know what would be alucard reaction to a goth reader and what would be his thoughts on their style and the music they listen to!! ❤️❤️
really love your works btw!!
Alucard x Goth! Reader
Warnings: none
Immediatly thought you were the rogue vampire he and Seras were tracking down, and had one hand on his gun.
Why else would you be wearing only black from head to toe in broad daylight?
It was 6:30pm.
Seras had to quickly explain the concept of goth fashion, and how 'walking the path of darkness' is also an aesthetic, along with a vampiric lifestyle.
Alucard is happily surprised, having only ever spent time around God-fearing humans who would mistake a Hot Topic for a satanist church.
Imagine his surprise when you turn out to be their contact for the mission, having witnessed the rogue vamp acting super sus while being a regular at your favourite nightclub.
When people started going missing week after week, last seen at the entrance to the club, you knew the wannabe Edward Cullen sleazebag had something to do with it.
You walk the two vampires into the club just before opening to show them around, Skeletal Family and The Cult already blaring through the speakers as the bar sets up for the night.
"It doesn't matter if we all die. Ambition in the back of a black car. In a high building, there is so much to do. Going home time, a story on the radio."
Yeah, Alucard digs it.
Discussing the recent victims, you've already come to the conclusion that the rogue is targeting new kids to the scene, teens and young adults who were just getting into goth culture themselves.
Basically, Alucard and Seras were targeting an undead nark gatekeeper.
Alucard admires your smarts and obervational skills, given that you recognized the target without any help from the experts, but you reassure them that they'll know the vamp when they see him.
Before the club opens, you take Seras behind the bar and force her to go through the Lost n' Found bin to suit up. While her military cosplay hugged her in all the right places, the blue and white were going to make her stick out like a sore thumb.
You reassure Alucard that he's already dressed to impress, and that no one will be any wiser that he was new at the club.
"Will my attire not attract any unwanted attention?" he asks you with a smile, as you help Seras with her makeup in the washroom.
"You will have so many bitches humping your leg, you're going to have trouble shaking them off when the vamp breaks into a run. So perhaps you could lose the hat and goggles," you suggest, squeezing Seras' chin as you force a fake septum around her nose.
As the club opens up to the street, in flows a tidle wave of black lace, sequins and leather. Alucard has never felt more at home, and Seras has never felt so uncomfortable around humans in her life.
Just as you said, it takes the two vamps less than half an hour to spot their target. Cake faced, glammed up with tacky chrome, and biting throats at the bar while patrons think he's just some kinky shmuck with some really authentic fake-fangs.
He's not even trying to be subtle.
Alucard and Seras manage to lead him to the mens bathroom, where they have fun pushing the prick around, treating him worse than the poor kids he 'napped and killed.
You stand at the door, not letting anyone in, and telling them that "staff are setting up a gore-fest theme as promo for the new Saw movie."
With how efficient the mission went, compared to the usual goose chase they go through, Alucard keeps your number in case they have another vamp lose in the city.
You already have a list of possible rogues at other goth hangouts you're familiar with, and are more than happy to help keep your community safe.
However, you find Alucard contacting you more so out of boredom than for work, not that you mind in the slightest.
He shows you the real nitty-gritty of the dark side, how shadows and death bend to his every whim without question, given he is the rightful King of the undead.
Alucard finds your style practical and unique, but thinks you can do better than nightclubs and festivals. It doesn't take long for him to take you under his wing as a Hellsing human associate, acting as a bridge between vampires and the living to communicate on undead disturbances.
You become his right hand, not a secretary, but his human voice and confidante. And no one dares ever question your clothes or makeup whenever you walk into a room, because they know the shadows that follow you aren't just for show anymore.

When we were young
Pairing: Raven x Fem reader
Description: Old feelings resurface between you and Raven after meeting again years later
Character idea and pic credits to @romanthereigns
You had decided to finally make the bold choice to join the alliance in their battle against WWF reuniting with old friends and meeting new ones within WWF and WCW. "There she is!" you laugh as Christian pulls you into a hug before joining him and a few of the others at the bar when you feel someone watching you turning around and locking on a pair of eyes that made many memories from five years earlier, you both looked different than the last time you saw each other two years back as you stole glances at each other over the night of occasional drinks leading to you smoking a joint to calm your nerves not expecting to turn around only for Raven to be behind you and grab your arm leading to the two of you arguing back and forth while going back to his motel room feeling tension and a warmth bubbling in you at the unexpected return of feelings you had long forgotten and still had buried within you. "I've never met someone like you" you stare at raven as he gently grabs your chin and kisses you but instead of it being passionate and almost suffocating like many of the kisses you shared before but this one was gentle and soft which brought a new kind of intimacy, your heart quivered at the pleasure taking hold with raven between your legs using his real name Scott as strands of dread laid in between your hands and on your thighs before you were straddled on top of him running your cool hands against his heated skin feeling like you were in a dream seeing chills run through him at your touch lightly trailing your fingers against his pelvis until he leaned up and pressed your lips back together and towered over you with his hands in your hair as he slowly thrusted into you reminding of the few emotional and tender moments you shared together years earlier when the two of you were younger despite it being five years with you at the time being 26 and him being 37. But it seemed that despite the two year absence you had never been away from each other at all as his larger course hands ran over your smooth skin while paused kisses are shared in a tired haze and a sweet act of buried feelings and unconditional love, the next morning you awoke to soft caresses along your face and shoulder before kissing your temple smiling softly at the action before you were wrapped in his arms sharing a warm kiss that sent a flutter to your heart and intimate trust before the two of you were driving to the arena zoning out until he places his hand on your thigh making you smile and intertwine your hand in his for the rest of the ride and the walk from the parking lot to your locker rooms for the night of Smackdown sharing kisses whenever you saw even one ringside after winning your street fight with Victoria and fans were immediately loved whenever the two of you did promos or had matches as a tag team leading to many sweet and even unexpected moments happening on Raw or smackdown from you putting his dreads into a bun to him carrying backstage when you got a concussion everyone always melted at every moment the two of you shared on camera.

SPOILERS AND ANALYSIS FOR THE EIGHTH SENSE, EPISODES 9 and 10. TURN AWAY IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET! LONG POST!
MY HEART. IS. SO. FULL.
Episode 9 almost (ALMOST!) reached Bad-Buddy-episode-10-level for me. That was a hell of an episode.
And I am so thrilled, SO FREAKING THRILLED, to have been proven wrong about my theories as to whether or not episode 6 was “real” to the series. It was very real, and clearly so meaningful and contributive to Jae Won (as well, of course, to Ji Hyun), that... it sent Jae Won running, literally.
One more passing thought before I dig into the meal:
I haven’t dug into this at ALL yet, but I think there might purposefully be a lot of similarities between The Eighth Sense and Where Your Eyes Linger, which (I think this is accurate, but PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong) was one of the first non-Strongberry Big KBLs to come out. I went back to Viki to make sure to confirm this, but Jung Seo In -- the restaurant ahjumma and Ji Hyun’s boss in T8S -- also plays a restaurant proprietor in Where Your Eyes Linger, and actually asks Han Tae Joo and Kang Gook “who’s top and who’s bottom” when she first meets them in WYEL (a little squick but she made it cute for that time). The promo picture for WYEL on Viki is of the two leads lying on the floor with their heads touching.... a different orientation, but a lot of the same feeling, as the opening of episode 10 of T8S. And, finally: Han Tae Joo of WYEL and Jae Won of T8S are both “the chairman’s son.” They are both sons in need of care.
That’s enough for a comparison for now to WYEL, because I haven’t spent enough time digging into it, but I’ll return to Ji Hyun’s ahjumma in a second, because she’s a badassssssss. Anyway:
Episode 9: What can I say. As with Bad Buddy episode 10, I’m struggling to get words down. I love a ride to a gorgeous union.
And Jae Won, HONEY, Y’ALL TOOK ME ON A HELL OF A RIDE. DUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEE. DUDE. I wanna be friends with you!
We learned some things. Ji Hyun brings light into Jae Won’s life. When we saw Jae Won with Eun Ji -- it was always in darkness (except for surf club earlier in the series, but Ji Hyun was there with Jae Won). jae Won eats with Eun Ji in a pojangmacha at night. He sits with Eun Ji in a dark library. He walks with Eun Ji on dark streets. She tries to kiss him in the nighttime.
Ji Hyun sees that -- and something twists inside of Jae Won.
Then we get Jae Won and Eun Ji in the dark library. And, JEEEEZUS. WHOA! UM! I. did. not. expect. the. long. game. to. be. played. LIKE. THAT.
Motherfucker played a LONG-ASS, I’M A NAVY VETERAN, I CHASED AFTER YOU, I SAW YOU WITH ANOTHER GUY, I WAITED FOR YOU, I WAITED UNTIL MORNING, I SAW YOU WERE STILL WITH HIM, I SAW YOU WALKING OUT OF THE MOTEL WITH HIM, I SAW THAT, I CAME BACK, YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF MY FEAR ABOUT JI HYUN AND THE ACCIDENT, AND I REVENGE-DATED YOU, KINDA GAME, HEADSHAKE, SHRUG, I’M LOOKING AT MY NAILS, PSH.
BRO. WHAT. THE. EFF.
I want a Cardi B song about this shit. Dude, you played that better than ANY female character in a K-drama that I have EVER seen, my man! You actually WENT AND DATED HER, LIKE KINDA LITERALLY-BUT-MAYBE-YOUR-HEART-WASN’T-ACTUALLY-INTO-IT-SO-MAYBE-IT-WAS-FOR-THE-ASSIGNMENT-DEALIE??? Good lord.
Like, can that become a K-drama/KBL trope? Hot DAMN. ANYWAY. (Actually, one more reference to this for episode 10, but enough of the all caps, ha.)
You know what that means, right? While all that was going on, Jae Won’s heart WASN’T with Eun Ji. He was processing his stuff with Ji Hyun on his own, and with his therapist (once more, lol, @emotionallychargedtowel, take me to your analysis! I gotta know what you thought about the therapist calling Jae Won selfish!).
Jae Won said it himself. He’s rooted in depression. He’s rooted in guilt about his brother’s death. He’s rooted in guilt over Ji Hyun’s accident. I will posit that episode 6 still felt like a “dream,” likely because of meds, likely because of Jae Won’s headstate. It was a “real” moment for the series but for where Jae Won’s head was at, he was likely battling a depressive episode with the continued, chronic guilt of his life. So things seemed fuzzy and jumpy -- because they were fuzzy and jumpy for Jae Won.
(Whenever I try to describe these states to people, I try to think of relative moments... like being at work with four hours of sleep. Driving while your contact lens has something in it. You’re fuzzily in and out of reality. Jae Won’s depression is deeper than that. But I try to relate to it somehow with those metaphors.)
So the therapist does her own thing by calling Jae Won “selfish” for rooting in his pain. How we choose to judge her behavior is whatever -- it still gives me the jibbles, and I lean towards the utterly wonderful @emotionallychargedtowel for better analysis about therapy than me.
But, as we very clearly saw -- Jae Won’s breakthrough came through the restaurant ahjumma. Remember: she represents a break from tradition, as I said last week. She’s done with the bullshit of living by the rules of others.
She sees university students in and out, everyday, eating samgyupsal and drinking their sorrows away. She sees former students coming back to say hi.
She’s been around the block, and has seen people get around the block themselves. She knows the advice that she’s giving to Jae Won. Unlike the therapist, she’s not gonna make Jae Won feel bad about himself. She’s just going to feed him and HELP HIM.
LET GO OF IT ALL, HONEY. GO AND GET YOUR MAN.
And Jae Won finally let go. He went to the water. He took us with him to a flashback to the sea, to the light, where he’s the happiest. He took us to where he’s the freest that he can be.
And Ji Hyun called him back to Ji Hyun’s side. Called Jae Won back through music, and Jae Won heard him, and ran to Ji Hyun, and they embraced -- and it was perfect.
I’m gonna be that auntie when I grow up.
Episode 10: There are a couple of side discussions with friends that I want to refer to, but let me say first that I have zero issues with this light, lovely conclusion. I am a SLAVE for K-drama tropes, and I didn’t mind that this episode had a few. This series did so beautifully to NOT hew to tropes, and to create a new paradigm of filmmaking in KBLs, that I was TOTALLY FINE with seeing some sweet tropey behavior -- the drinking, the partying, the dancing, the dance music. The love games. The heads leaning on shoulders. Coffees in cans. Let me give you my jacket.
Friends @shortpplfedup and @lurkingshan and @wen-kexing-apologist: I’m okay with the forgiveness to Tae Hyung and Eun Ji. Because.
I think Jae Won’s being a little shady, come awn. I think he popped his umbrella open. Just a little. Ji Hyun ADMITTED to being sassy, but I think Jae Won knew he was being just a little bitty-bit shady, and I’m gonna let the man have his. He’s a game-player.
Eun Ji HAD TO ADMIT that she got her ass handed to her. And Ji Hyun and Jae Won both knew she’d have a hard time, internally. I’m fine with her being calm about it. She knew she fucked up the game, hard, when she got her ass caught cheating. We know she’s lame, she knows she’s lame, let’s live and move on.
I thought Jae Won’s read on Tae Hyung was great. Tae Hyung IS someone who wears his heart on his sleeve, however misguided it is. Humans are not perfect. Jae Won wants to be with honest people. (That’s why he dumped Eun Ji’s ass and handed her the receipts. He can forgive her, but he certainly AIN’T going out with her again.)
As Bed Friend ended with happy moment after happy moment -- I believe the filmmakers knew exactly what they were giving us with this finale. How we came to SUCH a happy ending just boggles me, but it was a loving and a sweet one. GO YOON WON AND JOON PYO. COME AWN. GO GO GO. (And go Bit Na! Reject that motherfucker. AND AE RI! GURL! I’m gonna miss you, nothing slides by you.)
And I want to refer back to something about the therapist conversation in episode 9 that got concluded in episode 10. I think it’s really important to note that BOTH Ji Hyun AND Jae Won took care OF EACH OTHER in these last two episodes.
Jae Won was rotting in guilt over not being able to TAKE CARE OF JI HYUN during the accident. Jae Won arguably got Ji Hyun in trouble.
Ji Hyun, upon his recovery, TAKES CARE OF Jae Won. Ji Hyun handled the disciplinary committee. He gives Jae Won a disposable camera and encourages Jae Won’s photography. He continues to send Jae Won text messages, songs. Sending messages of hope and light and love. I’m still here, Jae Won, I haven’t left. Jae Won’s brother might not be here. Ji Hyun never left.
What shocked Jae Won out of his stasis was the ahjumma’s words. I think Jae Won realized at that moment that -- AS AHJUMMA WAS SAYING ALL ALONG -- THAT JAE WON WAS OVERTHINKING THINGS. Once Jae Won could
SEE. THE. LIGHT.
he was able to take off, and finally go back to Ji Hyun, in whole.
(I think we know why the therapist’s office was dark. Jae Won couldn’t see the light in there.
His light comes from Ji Hyun and the water.)
It’s a rarity, but I’m putting this on my short MUST WATCH list. This BLEW away any filmmaking expectations I previously had about KBLs. This was SINGULAR, groundbreaking, the actors ATE their roles, ATE THEM -- and it was utterly fulfilling.
PHENOMENAL SHOW. I’m going to miss this one TREMENDOUSLY.

With This Ring (7)
Previous chapter here, Ao3 here
As soon as the spell faded and they could make out the moonlit forest around them, Eddie took a deep breath. “Now that’s what I’m talking about.” He sounded amazed, almost reverent.
Steve couldn’t say anything, even if he’d wanted to. He just watched Eddie’s large, dark eyes, and the way that the moon reflected in them, giving back some of the life they had lost. For a minute, the pale light had returned to Steve the boy he’d thought he’d never see again.
They just stood together in the forest clearing and stared at the night sky.
“You know,” Steve whispered, “this reminds me of when we used to meet after school and talk about music. Especially that fall. Days were so short and it was crazy cold, but…I just remember being so excited.”
Eddie shook his head, a small smile tugging on his lips. “Excited over learning new chords and music discussions? Careful, Harrington. That sounds awfully nerdy for such a popular guy.”
“Would that really be so bad?”
Another shake of the head. Steve found himself wondering if it was a new habit that Eddie picked up to shake free all the remaining dirt in his hair, or if he just happened to disagree with Steve all the time.
“As long as you don’t mind falling from grace.”
Well. That was old news. “That’s already happened and I don’t exactly miss it. Shows you haven’t been around for a while.”
The words left Steve’s lips before he could catch them and lock them away, somewhere deep that they belonged. But now they were out in the open, cruel and unfair, and the sharp intake of breath next to him, the breath that Eddie didn’t need, told Steve how royally he’d fucked up.
“Well, excuse me for being dead,” spat out Eddie. The spark of life brought back by the moonlight was gone, his eyes went were two dark wells of despair and anger. “Must have been really inconvenient, not having everyone in the town as an audience for your tragic downfall. But let’s be real here, Harrington. I didn’t need to be maggot food to be inconvenient to you.”
“Eddie, you- you were never-!”
But Eddie was already moving ahead, marching towards the distant lights of night time Hawkins. “I don’t care,” he uttered over his shoulder. “It doesn’t change anything. Let’s record the demo and stop pretending that we’re friends.”
Steve wanted to say a million things, but not a single one found its way to the surface. Silence was easier.
“Right. Let’s stop pretending.”
He took a careful step forward and followed Eddie towards the land of the living.
Like most plans created under pressure, the one Eddie and Steve came up with had a few holes. Or more than a few. The first ones made themselves known only a few minutes into their walk through the forest.
To put it simply, it was a difference in expectations.
Steve’s breath was coming out in pained huffs as he tried to maintain Eddie’s merciless tempo, his injured ankle be damned. “We…need to stop by my parents’...house first. Get…the recording equipment. Get you ready. Then we either have to go to Robin…or break into the school.”
Eddie just nodded. “Add finding me a guitar to the list. We’ll need that too, some equipment from Gareth’s. Acoustic will do.” Then he frowned and shot a nasty look in Steve’s direction. “Wait. Get me ready? Pray tell, Steve. What is that supposed to mean? Do you want to shoot promo pictures as well or something? Is Jonny Byers back in town with his camera?”
As bitchy as his tone was, Steve was too tired and in pain to argue. “You realize we’re going to have to meet people, right? At least Robin and maybe some people on the street?”
“As if I care what they think,” Eddie scoffed. “What, scared you’ll be seen with a freak, Harrington?”
Through the heaviness of his whole body, Steve felt a spark of anger. All the pressure, the expectations, Eddie’s deserved but still painful jabs, the sharp stabbing in his ankle, it was more than enough to make a man snap. “Oh sure Munson, because everything is about my fucking reputation. Feel free to think it’s about me wanting to protect my nonexistent status as the Hawkins head douchebag and not about, I don’t know, this stupid town seeing a guy who went missing, suddenly back, covered in dried mud and blood. They’ll think you’ve had an accident and haul you off to a hospital. Can’t wait to hear how you’ll explain not having a pulse. Or, in their Christian love and acceptance, they’ll just go all pitchforks and torches on you. And worst of all - they could tell Wayne. Do you know how long he’s been looking for you? Someone told him you moved to Chicago and he…he left everything behind. What if someone calls him? What then?”
“Oh.”
Steve shot a quick look at his former friend. Eddie’s mouth was open in a sudden realization, his eyes wide and concerned. He even had the decency to look ashamed as he pulled a strand of dirt-covered hair in front of his face. He was impossible to stay mad at and Steve hated himself for it.
“So…” he said slowly, finally catching up with Eddie, “Can you please spare me the embarrassment of having to break you out of a hospital, or persuading Wayne that you were a mass hallucination?”
The dead man’s face broke out in a smile. “Anything for you and your reputation, Steve.”
The rest of their walk to the Harrington house was less charged. They both had plenty on their mind and, at least in Steve’s case, plenty they wanted to say but didn’t find the time, the place or most importantly, the courage. Opening old wounds wasn’t a good idea if you always had to be on your toes.
They took the side roads, hid behind trees, dumpsters, cars, anything that could conceal them. Once they had to dive into a small alley, crouching behind cardboard boxes to avoid being seen by a very drunk Tommy Hagan, Steve’s high school friend. A year ago, Steve would have been with him, drinking to his successes and his sorrows.
When Tommy passed them with an off-tune song on his lips, Steve turned to Eddie. “He’s gone now. Let’s go before he decides this is the ideal place to take a piss.”
But Eddie wasn’t listening to him. He was staring over Steve’s shoulder with lips tightly pressed together.
Steve turned around and saw what caught Eddie’s attention - a missing person poster, carefully laminated and glued over a bunch of faded advertisements and concert invites. The girl in it had a bright smile, innocent and charming. The name read: Chrissy Cunningham.
He shifted to face the picture as well. He remembered Chrissy. She wasn’t in his class, but everyone in school knew her - she was the perfect girlfriend and a friend. Always ready to help, to offer a kind word. When she disappeared, people didn’t understand it. She never said anything bad, didn’t have any enemies.
And now Eddie was studying her face with something that Steve couldn’t decipher. He reached out and touched the corner of the poster that was peeling off and pressed it back into place, securing it against the wall.
“Did you know her?”
Eddie nodded, still lost in thought. “Yeah. She was so kind. I met her when I pissed off the wrong group of jocks, you know. I don’t think they meant to hurt me, just…chase me away. Scare me off or something. But one of them didn’t get the memo and punched me straight in the face. It was small, but it bled a lot. The others ran away and I was just trying to stop the bleeding because I didn’t want to ruin my T-shirt.”
Chuckling, Steve imagined the whole scene. Eddie, with his hand covered in blood, desperately willing the blood to flow anywhere else. “I can absolutely see that.”
But Eddie didn’t return the smile. “She was walking past me with some of her cheerleader friends. They looked at me like I was a pile of vomit, but not her. She told them to go and got a bunch of things from her kit, for the bruises and stuff like that. Like I said…she was so kind. And terrified.”
That wasn’t a word Steve would associate with Chrissy. “Terrified? Of you?”
Eddie shook his head. “No. Of…stuff. A lot of different stuff. It’s not really mine to tell. But I hope she made it, no matter where she is.”
After leaving his King Steve years behind, he’d tried desperately to avoid judging people and listening to rumors. But no matter how much he wanted to mind his own business, Hawkins had a mind of its own. Gossip would reach him wherever he went, and soon he learned what everyone was saying about his former friend - he’d made Chrissy Cunningham disappear.
Steve didn’t want to believe this. This was nothing like the Eddie he’d known, no matter what everyone said. But since there was an overlap between Chrissy and Eddie’s disappearances, both happening only weeks apart, it was difficult to stop the stories. Especially when Jason Carver, Chrissy’s mourning fiancé, was determined to prove that Eddie had been responsible for his personal tragedy. He’d claim Eddie killed Chrissy. Maybe sold her off to a cult somewhere. But since there was no body and no news, he kept re-printing Chrissy’s posters and praying to God to reunite them.
Steve licked his lips, unsure how to broach the subject. “You…you haven’t seen her down there then? In…in the bar?”
Eddie shook his head and touched the poster one last time, his fingers following the line of Chrissy’s jaw. “Nah. If something happened to her, it wasn’t around here. But I don’t think she’d end up with us. She had better things to do.”
Steve couldn’t say anything to that. He wasn’t sure if Eddie’s words calmed him down, but at least now he knew that the same person who killed Eddie didn’t get to Chrissy. Whoever it was.
He would ask the question eventually. But it felt strangely invasive to say: “hey, do you know who killed you?”
Tugging on Eddie’s jacket sleeve, the two finally left the alley and continued walking.
When they saw a light in the Harrington family home, they realized the plan yet had another iceberg-size hole.
“What the hell. They were supposed to be at a charity dinner!”
Steve couldn’t believe it. He spent years begging them to stay home, to at least pretend they were a family, to show him that he was more important than all those bald middle-aged men in business suits, at least on his birthday, on Christmas, on the day his team won an important game. Just once.
He finally got his wish and he hated it.
“This is bad. This is really bad,” he whispered towards Eddie. “If they see me, they’ll drag me back to pastor Brenner. And they’ll force me to marry Nancy and everything will go to hell. Not to mention…they can’t see you, Eddie. They can’t. But Robin doesn’t have anything we can use, shit!”
Eddie was chewing his lip, thinking. In the end, he decided to do the unfathomable - he opened his jacket and gently tapped Ozzy’s furry head. “Hey, Ozz? Could you help us and check if Steve’s room is empty up there?”
The answer was definitely a swear word in bat language, but the small creature still spread his wings and fluttered up to Steve’s window. Moments later, there was an affirmative squeak.
Steve turned to Eddie with a confused frown. “What did he say?”
Eddie scratched his head. “That it’s empty and that he’s taking a nap on your pillow for the extra work.”
“That’s fair.”
“He also said your wallpaper is ugly.”
Ouch. “Also fair.”
Eddie scanned the house and its surroundings, and finally he smiled. “Hey, Harrington, think you can climb with that ankle? I spy with my corpse eye a maintenance ladder nearby.”
Steve’s eyes traveled to the maintenance shed in the garden, then to his window. “That should work”, he nodded. “Just a sec, I’ll bring-”
“You’re not bringing anything anywhere, your sprained majesty.” Before Steve could protest, Eddie was already jogging towards the ladder, raising it above his head. “Cool, huh? This would have killed me a year ago. Not having to rely on oxygen rocks.”
He seemed so proud of himself, Steve couldn’t say a single thing he wanted. Something like: if you were still alive, I would have carried it for you. Anything you’d need.
But that wouldn’t have helped anyone. So instead, he just grinned at Eddie and whispered, “Superpowers! Dustin would give you a cool superhero name in seconds. Corpse-man or something, but less lame.”
Eddie froze with the ladder above his head. “You know Dustin Henderson? I mean, I know you know him with all that happened in that junkyard, Bob told me. But you almost sound like you actually spend time with that nerdy twerp.” The last words sounded affectionate, even nostalgic.
Despite the stressful situation, Steve started laughing. As if “spend time” could even hope to cover it. Ever since he’d rescued the kids, Dustin became something like a younger brother to him.
He used to ask Steve why he no longer talked to Eddie, and Steve couldn’t give him a clear answer. Those were one of the few times he and Dustin fought.
“That twerp, as you call him, is one of the funniest and smartest people I know. Absolute lack of self-preservation though. I spend most of my free time making sure he doesn’t blow himself up with his experiments. Or get lost in the woods on purpose because he wants to test out his new radio.” He motioned at Eddie to set up the ladder against his room’s window. “How do you know Henderson?”
“You’d call it nerdy stuff,” shrugged Eddie and balanced the ladder, inching it forward so it wouldn’t make any noise. “His friend group needed a shepherd to take their hobbies to the next level. I offered my services.”
Steve stared at him.
Eddie stared back.
But out of the two of them, only Steve was comfortable with silence. It only took a minute for Eddie to break it.
“Ugh, okay! I was the Dungeon Master for their Dungeons and Dragons campaign, okay? Now, before you ask what it is and before I delve into an hour-long monologue on the intricacies of storytelling with active participants and we get discovered by your parents, can you please get your majestic ass on that ladder and upwards towards your lonesome tower, oh Sir Harrington the Temporarily Sprained Ankle Owner?!”
Steve had to stifle a chuckle with his palm. “I almost forgot how weird you are. I missed that.”
Before Eddie had a chance to ask what the fuck was that supposed to mean, Steve was already halfway up the ladder, not making a sound apart from the creaking of old wood. Eddie might have wondered for a moment about why Steve was so good at keeping quiet when his foot must have been killing him, but then he decided to drop it. He had ladders to climb, songs to record and final thresholds to pass.
Steve’s room was…
It just was. A room. Of a human being, probably.
Eddie didn’t say any of that aloud, but his face betrayed him, as it tended to do. Steve followed his gaze around the room, from the generic poster of a car, over the sport trophies neatly organized on a shelf, to the wallpaper that once again…was a wallpaper, and there was nothing else he could say about it. Wayne taught him to either say something nice or hold his tongue, especially when he wanted to avoid trouble.
“Come on, spit it out,” sighed Steve when Eddie’s eyes decided to do a second round of staring and quiet judging. “You obviously want to say something.”
“Uh, I…I mean…” Unable to form a coherent thought, Eddie settled on the wallpaper. “I’m just surprised, that’s all. I thought you said you wanted it to be yellow?”
Steve’s breath hitched in his throat, and he stared at Eddie with wide eyes. “You remember?” They were both whispering, the risk of getting caught was still too high, and maybe they had way more important things to do. But Steve selfishly wanted this, wanted to keep the memory alive for a few more minutes.
“Sure do.” Eddie sat himself down onto Steve’s perfectly made bed, leaving an imprint of dried soil. “We argued about the best shade of yellow for hours - still that eerie yellow that you’ll find in mysterious alien oozes, by the way - and you even brought me out to your garden to show me the flowers with the exact shade of yellow you liked.”
“Daffodils, man.” Steve joined him on the bed and spoke more to the wallpaper than Eddie. “For someone with such a good memory, you should remember the flower name. Also, I’d much rather have flowers on my walls than some mysterious slime, thank you.”
Eddie nudged his side. It was one of the few touches he gave willingly, apart from supporting Steve through his injury. “So why don’t you?”
“Huh?”
He touched Steve’s side again with his elbow and quickly returned back. It was strange to see Eddie’s wild movements contained like that. “Why don’t you have pretty yellow flowers on your walls? Why do you have…uh…not so pretty squares? What happened?”
Steve would have liked to laugh. As if there had been any actual mystery to why his room had a personality of a furniture catalog. “My dad happened. He knows how things should be, you know?” He glanced bitterly at his neatly arranged desk, the sharp letter opener his father had brought from yet another business trip that miraculously had to be extended over Steve’s birthday, the carefully chosen lamp, his uncomfortable chair (“It was very expensive, Steve, but Mr. Daniels assured me it’s what every young man needs in his room.”).
He grimaced as he finished his sentence. “And his son would never want wallpaper that looks like flowers.”
He felt shifting next to him as Eddie leaned forward. “You know you’re your own person, right? Not just his son?”
Steve knew that. Rationally, he knew he was separate from his father, that he had things that were his own. He had Robin and Nancy, his ridiculously easy banter with Dustin. He used to like some sports too, before the never ending competitiveness and expectations of perfection left them feeling hollow, like yet another chore, another mask to wear.
He once had Eddie and his music too. The two things he’d never get back, not really.
“It’s not that easy,” he whispered.
Eddie scoffed next to him. “Sure is. Just choose what you love. How hard is that?”
Ah. There it was. Steve’s stomach suddenly felt heavy and his heart beat like crazy, until all feeling gradually left his fingertips. He wished the numbness would spread further, into his head. “You told me the same thing once,” he said, keeping his eyes glued to his framed race car poster. “You said it as if it was the easiest thing. I believed it.”
Another scoff, but this time with way more bitterness. And Steve knew exactly why.
“You hardly did, Harrington,” said Eddie and his voice was harsh, cold. “Since that was the last time we spoke as friends.”
And Steve remembered, always remembered with vividness that he hated, how he tried to follow his dreams.
Steve, waiting for the right moment, right place, right everything. It was after another major success that his father only heard about when he returned to Hawkins, but he’d be happy, of course he would. Or at least satisfied.
So Steve presented his trophy, yet another one, and then started explaining. Presenting the merits of his plan, as his father had taught him.
He was nervous but excited. He could be more than his father ever thought he’d amount to. He’d be proud.
“I love music, dad. I learned to play the piano and read musical sheets. I can play some really difficult pieces now. It’s something that feels…natural. I feel like I could be good at it, great even, if I could only show you-”
“There’s nothing to show, Steven.”
And just like that, the light at the end of the tunnel was gone.
He fought for his dream, argued, bargained, begged, anything to change his father’s mind. It felt like talking to a rock. And when he finally gave up, resigned to keeping his love for music secret, as he had until that point, that was when Richard Harrington dealt him the final blow.
“This is all because of that good for nothing Munson. Do you think I haven’t heard rumors about the two of you sneaking around, disappearing for hours? I’m honestly relieved it was just about music, Steven, but I can’t risk you being around his disruptive influence any longer. You can’t risk it, you and your future. You will stop meeting with that young man. Immediately.”
Steve refused. Continued fighting, cursing his father, saying he’d just leave, that his father would have nothing to hold over his head.
And he would have done that, god, he would, if…
His father’s face was stern. Steve had always thought that it was just difficulty expressing emotions due to Richard being a different generation from him, but this was the first time he saw cruelty in his eyes.
“My word is final, Steven. You will stop seeing Munson and continue according to the plan, or-”
The ultimatum. It hurt to even think about it.
“You can’t be serious,” he said then. “You wouldn’t. You can’t!”
The final nail in the coffin of Steve and Richard Harrington’s relationship came in the form of a simple sentence. “With the right connections, one can do anything, Steve.”
He could have been bluffing. Steve could have called his bluff and left. But he didn’t and now it was too late to do anything about it.
Without looking at Eddie, he scrambled back onto his feet and wobbled towards his closet. The recording equipment he had purchased over the years was well hidden, small enough to fit into several shoe boxes. It wouldn’t be a fancy record whatsoever, but if he and Eddie were careful enough and tested the distance and setup, they would be able to present Eddie’s vision well enough. Or at least he hoped so.
Thinking about their agreement was easier, much easier. He hissed in pain when he bumped his sprained ankle against the doorframe, but it didn’t deter him from trying to reach the box.
“Steve…”
Eddie sounded unusually tame. Even remorseful.
Well, that wouldn’t do. Remorse was Steve’s domain.
“You’re right,” he said as he was frantically removing the carefully arranged pile of boring items, boring enough so no one would think to search behind them. “I’m a coward. I deserve to be told, and I have no excuse.”
“Steve, I didn’t mean-”
He didn’t bother to stop and turn around. “I should have talked to you before I made that decision, I know that, but it’s too fucking late to change anything. So I’ll do whatever you need me to do, anything for you to move on.”
Eddie’s voice sounded closer now. “Steve, wait a moment-!”
He finally tossed down the last obstacle, a bag full of clothes to be donated. “And now that we’ve established that, can you help me get the stuff we need?”
Eddie was behind him, he could feel him standing close enough to imagine the warmth that would have radiated from a living person. But there was nothing, just a cold presence of something foreign yet familiar, and a distinct scent of forest soil.
His personal evil spirit grabbed Steve’s shoulder. “Shit, be careful! If you hurt yourself any worse-”
But then the door to the room swung open. Steve fumbled in the dark, trying to pull himself and Eddie into the closet, but there were way too many things he’d pushed down from the top shelf, too little time, and then Mary Harrington turned on the light.
“Steven?”
Yet another hole in their plan decided to reveal itself in the worst possible moment.
Steve and Eddie had planned for the eventuality of being seen. They had the whole story prepared in many different versions, an evil spirit, a husband from beyond the grave, a marriage-averse zombie…but faced with the mundane perfection of Mary Harrington, it all seemed incredibly stupid.
Steve took a step forward, trying to shield Eddie from her vision. “Mom. I thought you had a dinner planned with that charity?”
She shook her head and her golden curls bounced around, reflecting the light. “We didn’t go. Where were you, Steven?” She gasped when she noticed his dirty, torn clothes and the tiny scratches on his face from when he’d fainted on the forest floor. “Were you attacked? Should I call Chief Hopper?”
“No, mom! Please don’t call anyone!” Steve gently held her shoulders to calm her down. When he looked into her large frightened eyes, the genuine concern no amount of self-control could cover, he thought for the first time he might not be the only one trapped in that household.
Mary Harrington studied Steve’s face more closely, frowning at his words. “But…you’re hurt, Steven.”
He kept holding her, maneuvering her with gentle touches away from Eddie. Either she hadn’t noticed him yet or she was more preoccupied with Steve’s current condition. “I just…I fell. I was practicing my vows in the woods because I wanted some peace and quiet. And…something happened. I can’t explain it in a way that would make any sense to you. Or in a way that would make you believe me. But mom…”
Steve took a deep breath. This was it. “I can’t get married. I can’t. I will, eventually, I think maybe in a few weeks it should be okay. But not yet.”
“And why is that, Steven?”
Of course he had to show up. Richard Harrington in all his pompous glory entered his room, attracted by the noise. He was still wearing the suit from the wedding rehearsal. He looked at Steve with that slight smirk that made his son feel tiny despite being almost the same height.
Steve shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. “Dad. Look, I-”
But Richard Harrington waved his hand to silence him. “Don’t. You disappear for hours. You make your mother worry for no reason. You destroy your wedding suit. And now you’re saying you can’t get married because of…what, exactly?” He glared at Steve through his glasses. “What could be important enough to ruin what we had been working for, Steven?”
Steve wanted to answer, to explain himself. But how can you talk to someone who thinks they already have all the answers? Where would he even begin? Which version of the story should he stick to? His head was pounding like crazy from all the stress of that day.
He took a deep breath to answer.
“Excuse me, Mr. Harrington, sir? That important enough reason would be me.”
Steve stared in horror as Eddie waved at his father and walked right up to him. The chain on his belt was jingling and when he smiled, his teeth were still dark with dirt. If Steve had looked inappropriate in the cleanliness of the Harrington family home, Eddie was its pure antithesis.
Richard Harrington seemed to share his son’s assessment. “You?” he asked in disbelief. His tone of voice implied he’d just come across a massive spider that he’d smacked with a newspaper once, but the beast kept coming back. “Steven. What is this?”
“I…uh…that’s Eddie?” Of course his father knew who this was, but he had no idea how to explain his presence.
Eddie didn’t share Steve’s reservations. He grabbed Richard Harrington’s hand and shook it with a grip that was a tad too strong. The man winced in discomfort. “Pleasure to see you again, sir. Edward Munson at your service, or probably disservice since I’ve come back from the grave to enrich your son’s life. Did you know your Steve here is a talented necromancer? Here I am, lying in my grave, minding my own business, when suddenly BOOM! Your son unwisely practices his vows to the lovely Nancy just on top of my resting place. How inconsiderate, right?” he turned to Mrs. Harrington.
Mary just stared and probably even forgot to blink. “...very?”
“Right, that’s what I thought!” Eddie spread his arms and the Harringtons took an instinctive step back. “What a rude son you have, walking on top of resting places is a big no-no. But his vows sounded very sweet and genuine, soooo…” he wiggled his fingers, drawing their attention to the golden wedding band, “here I am, soon-to-be Munson-Harrington! I’d love to call you mom and dad, thank you for asking.”
Richard Harrington’s stare could kill. “We didn’t,” he hissed, eyes fixated on Eddie’s finger.
“You didn’t have to!” Eddie’s snickering grew even louder when he grabbed Richard’s cheek and wiggled it. “Aw, you look so cute when you’re mad. I can hear what you’re thinking, and yes. This is going to be reeeeally difficult to explain to your friends and neighbors. Or the Wheelers, goodness gracious! What a scandal!” he gasped, milking the Harringtons’ shock to the maximum. “But maybe…maybe you won’t have to.”
Mary, unlike her husband, couldn’t help stop staring into Eddie’s eyes. Steve could tell she already suspected something was very wrong. “How…how would that work?”
Eddie bent down and grinned directly into her face. “Glad you asked, mom. See, I might have a certain…interest in the world of the living. And if Stevie here complies and helps me finish my business here, I’m willing to release him back to you, unharmed and unwed. But I’ll need him for a bunch of days. A week, perhaps. He needs to remain faithful to me for a month, that means a wedding to another being, living or dead, is absolutely forbidden.” He sang the last part in a sickly falsetto as he wiggled his finger at Steve’s parents. “After that month? Poof! He’s back, as good as new, ready to marry Nancy and give you grandchildren and all that your boring lives need. Deal?”
Eddie stretched his dirtied hand towards Richard. Maybe this would work, Steve thought. Maybe his father would be too shocked to say anything. Maybe he could also see that something is very wrong with Eddie.
But then Richard Harrinton slapped the offered hand away. “How dare you!”
Just like that, the spell was broken. Eddie stepped back and scowled at the older man, clenching his fists. “Oh look,” he sneered. “It has some courage, who would have thought?”
Richard turned to Steve who still stood behind Eddie, petrified. “What do you think this will accomplish, huh, Steven? Is this what you find funny? Or is it yet another attempt to ruin our reputation even further?”
“No, dad, I-!”
But his father stabbed his finger into Steve’s chest. “So what?! Did you think this…this ridiculous story paired with some poorly applied stage makeup would convince us to let you ruin your life? You know what I told you about this young man. You were directly told to stop meeting with him, or else. And now you spit in my face with your actions!”
Steve wanted to defend himself, wanted to yell at his father, to explain all that happened, but he felt frozen. There was no hope to pull this off, what had he been thinking?! How could he even hope to help Eddie when he couldn’t even stand up to the man who controlled his life? He was so tired.
Once again he opened his mouth, trying to get out an apology, an explanation, anything. And once again, he was interrupted.
“Oh. So it was you who made him act like I was invisible. That’s fucking rich.”
“Eddie-!”
Eddie’s words were low and laced with venom. His fake joviality and theatrics were gone now, and he cackled, throwing his head back in humorless laughter. “Of course you did. And of course you listened!” he spat out, glaring at Steve. “I should have known you’d never grow a fucking spine. Well, it doesn’t matter.”
Richard Harrington snorted and gestured at Eddie. “At least we can agree on something. Now get out of my house before I call the police.”
“Oh no. Nonono, Richie. I don’t think I will.” The dead man sat himself on Steve’s desk, legs crossed. “See, I really, and I can’t stress this enough, REALLY don’t give a fuck about the police. What are they going to do? Send me back to the grave?”
Richard’s face grew dangerously red. “You still insist on this insulting charade?! Anyone can see you’re completely fine. Only an idiot would believe you’re a walking corpse!”
Eddie’s grin betrayed that he had been waiting for a taunt like that. “Oh really?” he said in a sing-song voice. “Well then, Richie. I’ll make an idiot out of you just yet.”
He reached for something on the desk and presented it to the three Harringtons, as if he’d been preparing an audience for a magic trick. Steve recognized the item immediately, it was the letter opener that Richard had gifted Steve.
“What are you doing?!” Steve whispered, but it was too late.
Eddie plunged the blade into his chest, directly into his heart.
Mary gasped and collapsed against the door. Richard’s face promptly abandoned the red color and went pasty white. “I…” he mumbled, his eyes searching for an explanation and not finding any, “...I see what you did, you…that’s a theater trick. That’s one of those foldable knives, it’s…it has to be-”
Eddie hopped off the desk and approached Richard, reaching for his hand. “Oh no, Richie. No tricks here. But if you need more convincing…see for yourself.” He made Richard’s fingers grasp the blade and stab it even deeper.
Richard Harrington yanked his hand away and the letter opener with it. It made a metallic noise as it collided with Steve’s bed frame. But Richard didn’t even notice, he was shaking uncontrollably and Steve knew exactly the thoughts that ran through his head.
His hands are as cold as ice.
I know the letter opener. It isn’t fake.
His eyes are empty. So empty.
Eddie smiled again, but it never reached his eyes. “Now, lady and gentlemen, please notice the wound on my chest. Gruesome, isn’t it? But there’s no blood. Why? Because…and I want you to remember this…corpses do not bleed.”
If he wanted to add anything else, he didn’t get a chance. Richard Harrington dragged Mary away and slammed the door behind them.
Moments later, he and Steve heard a running engine and a car hurriedly leaving the driveway.
And as Eddie kicked the letter opener deeper under the bed, he heard a dissatisfied meow from the window. Dart was staring daggers at him and so was Ozzy, who probably only pretended to stare because he was a bat, but his eyes were narrowed and directed at Eddie.
“We really can’t let you go anywhere.”

The man places a hand on the open wound that is stomach currently, a pained grimace lifts his head up to see it coated in blood. Just blood. That was good, he did not smell or see anything from the contents of his stomach. He hadn't expected the people of this universe to be so strong, and yet, there was a part of him that approved. It was hard to explain to a sane person, or even himself.
But to wager one's life, one's honor, on a single contest of strength spoke far truer one's character than anything else. To win such a struggle, or even lose with sufficient grace, reaffirmed him. It proved to be particularly deadly this battle, with his opponent laying face down and still. His sword still ran through them, pinning them to the ground.
"Aa.." He'd groan as he began to sit try to sit up, intense pain radiating from his core. He needed to find a place to rest and recover.

"Clean work on that Scav job, Specter. Client is safe, threw a little something extra in since you're new to the city. Have some advice, get comfortable at Afterlife. You're gonna need some friends to survive this city."
Hayden's eyes went dim as the call ended, the words of his Fixer still fresh in his mind as he saw his credits rise. As he walked down the neon streets of Night City he felt out of place. The rain was growing heavy against the artificial concrete, pounding against his skinweave creating the feeling of sensation. In reality it was all just neurosensory information being fed back to his processing unit. Thought at this point there was no real difference between flesh and machine, it was all the same. He might as well bleed black.
His heavy footsteps seemed to echo as he made his way to Afterlife. Try as he might, he couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. From every corner of this city someone was sizing him, trying to figure out if he was predator or prey. Most where smart enough to see that he wasn't the choom to fuck with. A small dark part of him wanted to be tried. He wanted someone to test him. It was that part he buried during the Unification Wars.
He wanted a fight. Craved it. Best he muzzle those emotions now.
He offered the bouncer of the Afterlife a nod, fixing his coat as he walked in. For those looking at him they could tell he was new to the city, perhaps it was the stiff way he walked. Maybe it was the distant look in his eyes of a man running from the past. But anyone with a techie brain could see his chrome, military hardware that looked militech? It was hard to pin down. He went to take a sit at the bar, looking up at the bartender.
"Whiskey neat."

Cont. from here
He offers her a small smile in reply to all that she said, as he goes to take a seat in the chair. The hand that was shaking he'd lay on the arm rest, palm upward. He had long since become familiar with those who inhabited the fourth divisions, but that did not speak to knowing them well. Isane Kotetsu was one of those he had a minimum history of interaction with, life never quite aligning in a way that required them to.
So it was funny that their first memorable interaction was him getting medical treatment. "I believe I overworked myself training. Felt a sharp pain in my forearm, and down my back. Think I pulled some muscles." Hayden seemed relax in this moment, as he moved his gaze from his arm up to her. For a moment he looked taken aback as he looked at her, before looking around the room.
"I won't tell anyone, ya' know. About the book." He'd finally say, his gaze drifting downward to focus on his arm.

My #1 post of 2022
cont. from here
That poor newbie, if he had stayed Hayden would have gone out of his way to help him. As he watched the fellow depart he sighed, going to pick up his papers before a somewhat popular face joined him. A brief exchange of words happened as they gathered up his report before he stood up, offering her a thin smile. He'd let out a brief chuckle at her adamant comment, and now that he was standing upright she could see he was in fact the First Division's third seat.
"To some's dismay, I'm quite adamant." He'd inform with a slight nod, the deep rumbling baritone and accent indicating he was a westerner. No doubt having ended up in the soul society by some strange happenstance. "It's a shame that young man ran off so quickly, I would have provided him some help." He saw no reason not to, his gaze going off to the distance where that young guy ran to, his eyes lingering. It was his duty, and his pleasure, to provide assistance to his fellows within the Gotei. He liked helping people.
But he'd quickly turn his gaze back to her, holding a callous hand out. "Apologies, I am Desmond Hayden. Third seat of the First Division. Most call me Hayden." He'd greet figuring it was only fair to offer a proper introduction to the woman after all! "I think, I know of you." He'd remark slowly as if still trying to remember, before his eyes went to her insignias.

so here is my dilemma today sjdjdjs . day 2 in the field of a new job and yesterday i fucking HATED it and HATED the commute to the point where i cried the whole way home and then ALSO cried for like an hour afterward w my partner about how much i hated it and how miserable i was !! im putting it below a cut bc it'll probly get long but if anyone does read it all tell me if i should quit or try to keep going through it
okay so basically the job is charitable fundraising, face to face on the street canvassing. i dont wanna go into too much detail abt the company structure but the company that hired me is contracted by the IRC to do all their face to face fundraising. so yesterday they did some like intros and some basic dos and donts and then paired us up w someone and said "okay go!!"
here are my issues with it that are just about the job structure and not my own issues: theres no centralization at all and every day i would be going to a different spot. now this would be fine if it was based in tacoma, where i know my way around, and also dont have to ride for an hour on multiple forms of transit to get TO the city. the job is in seattle but i live in tacoma and anyone who sees this who does this commute will understand lol. they'll tell us where we're mesnt to be the next day 'by 8pm the night before' and having to scramble every single night to work out a complicated and frankly expensive commute to a brand new place makes me wanna kill myself sjzjzjzjz
minor issue but we have to use our personal phones and let them location track us for time clock purposes and i truly am not comfortable with that, and it saps my phone battery horribly which is a major source of anxiety for me
also in all their promo materials people had tables they were Sitting behind and for us, it is literally standing still in one spot for 6 fuckin hours a day which like i get it but if i can't walk around or sit i cant do it!!
last major issue is in fact the job itself. and i will admit this is my fuckin fault but i dont even rmr when i applied for this position and i have just been desperately applying for whatever i think i could get. but goddamn i am so tired of jobs where the people i interact with as a RULE treat interactinf with me like a horrible fucking chore or something else awful they have to get through like i can just FEEL the disgust radiating off them and that is so goddamn exhausting to me
now here is where we get into why u Shouldn't quit. the number one answer is that i am less than 2 weeks into quitting nicotine and in like another 2 weeks i SHOULD be a lot more normal. i say should because unfortunately nicotine is a surprisingly effective med for a lot of the mental issues i deal with and i honestly DONT know if i will get back to feeling normal within the month timeframe most people do !! and thats also assuming i dont fuckin relapse at all in that timeframe and am Able to stay off it, which if i stay at this job will probably be very impossible. but i truly just DONT have the necessary emotional regulation skills to deal with what i need to at this job! i dont have the emotional regulatory skills to deal with the constand rejection and brushing off, i just dont have the ability to not take it personally right now. and honestly given everything i dealt with at cascade and how much that affected me i dont know if i Will have those regulatory skills once im thru quitting!!
i dont know. like i want a job where i know im putting Good back into the world but i also dont want tiny fucking returns and rejection and unhappiness, and besides this would be an expensive fuckin job w the commute n the food n everything. i just dont wanna fuckin do it and i feel like with how fast paced everything is in this industry i should probably just fuckin quit now .lmao
i just dont know what to do and we're so brain foggy that we cant even make a fucking decision and im so tired and i dont wanna do it lmao . so someone tell me if i should quit or not !!

[image description: 911 season 6b promo trailer
The Fox logo appears on screen, and we zoom into the centre of the O. We see a cloudy and gloomy looking beach scene, as the music plays. The song is Lightning Bolt, by Jake Bugg. In the distance, lightning flashes between heavy grey clouds.
There are a few people on the beach, and a man drives a large beach umbrella into the sand. He crouches down beside it as he opens it up. Accompanied by a slamming sound effect, the words “Fox Monday March 6th” slide onto a red smoky background.
At the fire station bay, Eddie and Buck stand in front of the wall mount lockers, where their gear is held. The camera zooms back, to reveal Hen wearing her turnout coat and placing her helmet on the top shelf.
Back on the beach, surfers run into the choppy waters in the background. In the foreground, a girl sits cross-legged and shovels sand from a large hole in front of her into a large heap.
A wide shot as a lightning bolt strikes the beach umbrella, and nearby children and adults flinch away from it.
Against a red smoky background, text reads, “The return of 9-1-1” and the song echoes and fades out. As Maddie says, “9-1-1, what’s your emergency?” the screen cross-fades onto her sitting in dispatch, looking between her screens.
A clanging noise is accompanied by Buck standing on the firetruck ladder in torrential rain. He’s looking upwards and lifts his helmet visor, squinting at something in the distance. A wider shot as he slowly turns his head, and a dazzling flash of lightning strikes in front of him, and then hits him. He jerks forwards.
Looking up from the bottom of the ladder, we see him falling off the ladder, though he’s attached by some sort of harness.
The lyrics “Path of a lightning bolt” are sung as the words “will shock you” appear on a red smoky-looking screen. The screen flashes, as though with lightning through storm clouds, and then cuts to May and Athena sitting on the outside patio table as they’re illuminated by distant lightning. May turns to look towards the sky as it thunders. Athena is already looking upwards and absent-mindedly rubs her opposite shoulder.
A wide shot of the city skyline at night, dark grey clouds illuminated with multiple flashes of lightning.
Cars are driving under a bridge and one is struck by a large lightning bolt, sparks flying up from it. Another angle, and a car on fire rolls sideways and skids to a halt on its side. The firetruck speeds along, red lights flashing.
Followed by two firefighters with halligans, Hen walks forwards in slow-motion, waving her hand across her body, as though telling someone to move. There are flood lights above her and it’s raining.
The lyrics “Path of a lightning bolt” are sung again, as Bobby tilts his head back and looks up and to the side, as he walks along. He hops on the spot as he continues moving.
A lightning bolt flashes down the middle of the screen and hits the ladder. Someone flies backwards from where they stood on the ladder, and there is smoke in the background.
The words “lightning bolt” echo as we get a wide shot of the firetruck and ambulance driving down a large empty road towards the city. There is a wide plume of grey smoke in the background. Multiple lightning strikes hit the city, as well as the transformers that line the middle of the street, causing sparks to fly and fireballs to rise up.
The 9-1-1 logo flashes onto the screen, along with “returns Monday March 6”. The Fox logo appears on screen and pushes backwards, and the scene from before disappears into the centre of the O.
